Good for the Price, But Lousy Food

Not a bad hotel for the price but don't pay for the upsell of the breakfast and happy hour options. The food at both was ... mediocre at best and cost a lot more than it would take to buy the same food at a local restaurant. The gym was small but nobody but me seemed to be using it so that didn't matter. It did have a nice selection of English TV stations if that's a concern.

There were Hutongs right near the hotel that contained cheap local restaurants where you could buy dinner for two for about $5.

Great Location Club Lounge so-so

The hotel has a great location, near Wangfujang street and very easy subway access. The breakfast is substandard compare to ... other similar hotels. the club lounge food is good, but offers limited services outside of Happy Hour. The Happy Hour is fairly nice, but still only so so. The staff could be more friednly. For the price paid, it was a good deal. I would not pay much more than $120 for clubroom floor

Great location,1/2 mile from forbidden city,tian square,night market and wanfuginf street.Grocery store 5oo feet from from ... hotel.Most of the tours we did it on our own using the subway lines.Subway very easy to use ,everything mark in english.Some activities use the tour because too far from the city.Concierge at the hotel,all i can say (outstanding).

Temple of heaven,tian square,forbidden city,pearl and silk markets,beijing zoo(pandas),summer palace,do it on your own pace using the subway,will safe alot of money.Great wall,ming tombs,hutongs with rickshaw ride,do it with the tours the hotel offer,you will get your money worth.Also the concierge arrange for me and my wife a trip to see the terra cotta warriors at XI AN.We flew there and back with air china,tour included with guide and lunch,and transport from airport and back only in xi an,for $600.00 for both .IT IS WORTH IT.Be careful with the taxis,research travel guide to china on the web ;it will tell you all the details.

Room with king size bed was not available when checked in, but we like the room with two beds so we kept it for the three ... days stay. Location was great to visit the Palace and the Square. We subsequently joined our tour group and stayed at Shangri-la for two days. My wife and I both think the Park Plaza is better, especially with the Club Room.

Classy upscale hotel...was intended for the expense account crowd because all of the optional expenses were very high...mini ... bar, restaurants etc. There are plenty of surrounding convenience stores and restaurants that can be used at about one third the price of the hotel. Very nice place, friendly staff..the subway/metro is on the same block.
