Medal-worthy refined business hotel next to Olympic Village

This refined 315-room hotel next to the Olympic Village opened in 2007 and still gleams as brightly as a gold medal. These days, however, the 17-story tower draws mostly business travelers working at the International Conference Center or hitting the links at two nearby golf courses. Guests can reach most of Beijing's top attractions within a 30-minute ride on subway line 5.

Highlights
  • 315 spacious and elegant rooms
  • Next to Olympic Village
  • Near International Conference Center and two golf courses
  • Subway line 5 takes guests to main Beijing attractions
Rooms

A subtle brown palette and glass accents create a masculine, contemporary feel in the 315 spacious and elegant rooms. All rooms include a safe, mini-bar, down pillows and duvet, flat-screen television, and high-speed Internet. Bathrooms feature a separate tub and shower and a large glass window looking toward the Olympic Village. Modest guests can lower an electric blind for privacy. Superior rooms on lower floors measure 408 sq ft. Deluxe twins on higher floors average 516 sq ft. Suites range from 645 to 689 sq ft. Three floors of club rooms cater to business travelers and command excellent views of the nearby Olympic venues.

Features

Guests feel regal as they enjoy Beijing duck in the black, modern, throne-like chairs of Beijing Palace. Café Marco serves a sumptuous international breakfast buffet as well as lunch and dinner. Matsuko is an outlet of a highly popular and praised Japanese restaurant in central Beijing.

Exercise buffs can sign up for yoga, meditation, or aerobics classes in the sunlit, 1,926-sq-ft fitness center. Guests relax afterward in the pool or hot tub. The 26,750-sq-ft spa includes eight VIP treatment rooms with oversized hydrotherapy tubs.

The staff was incredibly helpful, and I enjoyed my two weeks. Rooms are truly beautiful. 24 hour McDonalds across the street has good coffee -- hotel's is even better. Location kind of out of the way.

Great Beijing Hotel - Marco Polo

A five star hotel at a three star price. Upgrade to the 15th floor, you get free breakfast, and computer in your room. the upgrade is well worth the extra price. The staff was extra helpful and most spoke enough English to answer any question you might have.
