Northwest Beijing hotel is pretty in pink
This hotel on the northwest side of downtown Beijing introduces guests to a different corner of the city. The Beijing Zoo and Houhai entertainment district both lie within a 10-minute drive. Great Experience!
We enjoyed the stay at the hotel. [...] we got a very good price and were pleased with the room. The restaurants in the hotel and the room service are really expensive as are the extra services like laundry. BUT overall we enjoyed it. If you want good restaurants close by just ask the staff and once the English speaking concierge is able to help you she (at least it was a woman for us) will give you some great suggestions within walking distance. She can even give you directions written for taxi drivers if needed. The food outside the hotel and attractions is so much cheaper than the hotel. They can also get you a taxi back to the airport. But you may want to spring for the shuttle from the airport if you have a lot of baggage because the vans they put you in are way over priced (almost 3x too much) or take separate taxis. Great hotel though and close enough to everything.

There is a good restaurant that is cheap and close by. Ask the front desk people to tell you where the restaurants are close by. They are a good resource.

Great Trip to Beijing
The Grand Metropark Yuantong Hotel Beijing was an amazing value for the price that we paid. ($70 USD per night including all fees & Taxes - List price for our room is $350 USD per night) It is listed as a 5 star Hotel, but may be more of a 4 star hotel. The Rooms are HUGE, Clean and Comfortable. The bathrooms are Luxurious with a Shower and DEEP Bath tub for soaking with wide ledges to set candles or a Tasty Beverages. Probbly the MOST comfortable Bathrooms I have ever had at a hotel. The Lighting is well done for soft mood setting relaxation. Free Internet, Cable TV with Several English channels, and a nice little office area with a coffee/tea set up and place to relax in the AM. Our View from the 13th floor overlooking the City Scape was Stunning especially at night. However, we arrived on the hottest May day weekend that Beijing had seen since 1960. The rooms got a bit warm as the AC had not been activated yet. With that said - Overall, the Staff was very Friendly, courteous and attentive. They brought a fan to us as soon as they could. One evening one of the beds broke - and they went to painstaking efforts to give us another room on a very busy and full Saturday evening, even offering us an executive suite for no extra cost. The Location of the hotel is really Great. There is a quiet clean and safe park right out front that spreads out over at least 1-2 kms. great plaace to stroll at night and during the day with locals hanging out singing and playing traditional Chinese games. Lots of Great places to eat nearby - Includig a whole string of coffee/bread shops for Breakfast. A GREAT Feature was having a Subway stop right outside the entrance of the hotel. Made for getting to Starbucks and the rest of the City very convenient - (once we figured it out). The front desk staff speaks decent English, however, the rest of the hotel struggles a bit - If you need something though from another department like room-service, the bar, restaurant or the Spa - you can work through the front desk. With that said though, We did run into some problems with the staff not being completely knowledgable about various local (witin the neighborhood) things to do - like where to eat or the closest Starbucks/ liquer store etc. We eventually had to find certain things on our own, which allowed for adventure and having our own experiences. I would Deffinitely stay here again - I certainly felt like I was on vacation as the rooms do give a subtle feel of luxury and pampering. And again - the staff did a remarkable job of making us feel warm and welcome - And if it was not right - they made it right!

Finding the eating places nearby can be a little bit tricky. However they are very close AND once we found them- We were set! The Food at the small shops are abslutely fantastic and reasonably priced - The coffee Shops AMAZING - with wonderful European type breads for breakfast

Nice hotel, but not so good resteurant.
Nice hotel, but not so good resteurant. The food is good, but I didn't get what I ordered, it happend twice.. Also hard to tell a taxi driver where the hotel is located.
