Feel Like a VIP

My flights to/fm Santiago, Chile on Delta were nightmares of turbulence and uncaring attendants. Upon arriving at the hotel, well before check-in hours, my room was not ready so they sent me to the Concierge Lounge to unwind until my room was ready. They did everything right and the memories of the horrible flight vanished in minutes. I was in the Concierge Lounge perhaps 20-30 minutes when a bellman delivered me my room assignment and keys with the apologies of the Hotel for the delay. The room was pristine and exactly like shown on the website. Minutes later my bags were delivered. The Staff never missed a beat from my arrival until my departure. The breakfast buffet option I added was not bad. The plethora of fruits and options was enough for the most picky eaters to find what they want. The only minor issue was that the scrambled eggs were very runny, but like I said it was very minor. The serving staff and cooking staff all treated me like I was an old family friend not as just another guest. They remembered my prefered tea and other small things that really made me feel comfortable. I know they have to handle so many hundreds if not thousands of people regularly, but to remember such minor things really shows the quality and skill levels. The beds when I was finally done with my meetings were perfect. Everything smelled fresh and even the rugs passed my test. I walk on the carpets in white socks to see how well the staff clean and I was quite impressed. The Concierge Desk and Front Desk Staff were outstanding in helping me with any questions I had from what was the best Tour to take, to locations of grocery stores that had english speakers to assit me since my spanish was not up to snuff. Even the check out procedure was painless and easy. My time in Santiago was such a positive experience, in part thanks to the Hotel's Outstanding Staff, that I am planning to return there with my wife for vacation next year. In short I HIGHLY recommend the Santaigo Marriott Hotel in Chile.

If you want a comprehensive Tour of Santiago that is easy and reasonable, Touristic is the way to go. They are red Double Decker Busses and you can get on/off all day for the 1 fare.

Failing quickly

Have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the past 8 years and find suddenly that the service is now diminishing fast. This time we were given an extremely noisy room (next to a service exit) after specifically asking for a quiet room, also they did not want to honour the fact that our reservation included breakfast. Took a lot of arguing to convince them that breakfast was in fact included with our booking. With our previous reservation of 2 days which was paid in advance, we arrived at the hotel only to find they had given our room to someone else and had no further rooms available at that time. After a long flight we had to go and find alternative accommdation.
