Excellent babymoon getaway

If you are looking to get catered to and not be in an all-inclusive, the Ritz Grand Cayman is the place to be. Since I was not able to consume alcohol and my eating habits have changed since being pregnant, it didn't make sense to stay in an all-inclusive for us. Their beach chairs are amazing - you can literally nap for hours on them because each is individually shaded. The staff was always very friendly and they made our trip extra special by giving us a handwritten note with a box of chocolates as a good luck momento for our babymoon. It was a very nice touch. My only complaint and I told the hotel in my comment card was that our hallway right outside our room smelled not so great - kind of like a porta potty with potpourri masking the smell. Also, my one other thing was that the towels that they offer you on the beach seem to be softer than the ones they offer in the room, which for a 5-star hotel and a Ritz Carlton I simply expected better in that regards. But besides that, our room was great. Definitely get the pool-side/beach side of the hotel and not the garden side when booking. Otherwise, you have a very long walk daily to get to the big pool and beach area.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

You can walk to great breakfast place called Sunshine Grill across the street at Sunshine Resort - AMAZING pancakes for breakfast, great burgers/mahi mahi tacos for lunch/dinner. Grocery store is nearby so you can grab snacks. The grocery store is also right next to a great steak house - Copper Falls.

Best on Cayman but Better elsewhere

If you're going to GCM this is the best resort there, although we have stayed at better resorts in Maui, Kauai, Cabo etc. all for similar or less money. Blue was fantastic, Seven was average. They did help us with lost luggage kits, but didn't want to use the Ritz shuttle to take us to the pharmacy. It was a mixed trip in that respect. Certain things were outstanding, other requests fell on deaf ears.

Good, but not as expected

A very nice hotel. But for the cost, you would expect that. Staff were responsive when asked, but you would first have to seek them out to engage. Have been to other hotels with a much more congenial atmosphere. Beachfront was way too crowded as they set up chaise lounges too packed in like sardines, though the canvas covers were a plus. Saw chaise lounges sit vacant for hours because someone or one of the attendants placed a towel or book to reserve (3 up front on beach were reserved without use until after 2pm with this system, which denied others use of the beachfront view.. hotel should address this issue ! We have stayed at other Ritz and in comparison this site fell short of expectations (thus a 4 vs 5). GC is a nice island for a getaway, but so are others in the Carribean region. Poolside bar restaurant staff were very friendly and great service (cudo;s there)..
