Met my expecatations!
Very friendly staff. Great Location, probably the best hotel to stay at on the island. The lobby has a seperate concierge for REd Sail Sports, Island Tours, Car Rentals, etc. The hotel's food is a little expensive, that's the only downside. The hotel's check in is at 4p.m. (they might accomdate you earlier) Go to CIMBUCO'S restaurant across the street (by the Texaco gas station) for breakfast....soooo good for only $5.00, and great service!

Relaxing Vacation at the Marriott
We had a great time at the Marriott. Our room was ready when we checked in - the hotel had upgraded our room from the deluxe to a garden view room. Everything was clean and the maids, doorstaff, front desk, groundskeepers, and beach staff were all very friendly. The best thing about the hotel is the beach. Great snorkeling right off shore. We saw eels (very small), puffer fish, trumpet fish, parrot fish, etc. We heard some people saw sea turtles, but we didn't go out that far. The prices for watersports are a bit steep. We went down the beach aways and the prices were cheaper. We went to the Turtle Farm. If you haven't been, it's worth the trip just to see the turtles. The pool was open, but not the saltwater lagoon, so the price was discounted. It's a one time trip, though. We even rented a car for one day (Sunday, less traffic) and toured the east and north sides of the island. Rum Point was very crowded and the beach was better at the Marriott so we had lunch at Kaibo and came back around. Stopped at the blow holes and other beaches on the way back too. One day with a car was enough. Prices on the island are a bit steep for food. We brought lots of snacks in our baggage and shopped for bread, cheese, milk. It saved us quite a bit of money. Liquor stores close at 7pm and no liquor is sold except in bars after 7pm on Saturday night until Monday. Most things are closed on Sunday. On the day we were checking out, our son wanted to go parasailing. We went down the beach and caught a ride. It was much safer than in Mexico as they reel you into a boat and you don't land on the shore. The hotel staff allowed us to check out at 1:00 instead of noon (no extra charge).I'd go to Grand Cayman again and stay at the Marriott. You can't beat the beach and the Islanders are among the friendliest and most helpful we've experienced in the Caribbean. We had a relaxing vacation.

Nice hotel for the price
We stayed here for 6 nights at about $100/night (booked as part of an Orbitz package). At that price I'd consider to be a very good value, especially for the Caymans (things in general seem to pretty expensive here). In terms of the amenities and service I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars, maybe 4 stars. The only problem we had is that they were pretty slow to get the rooms ready, but it wasn't a huge deal. The section of 7 Mile Beach in front of the Marriott is fantastic, and we were quite happy with the snorkeling in that area. If you go out a few hundred feet and head south you will encounter a section of rocks/reef that shelters a good deal of marine life. We also managed to see a sea turtle while snorkeling out between the reef balls and the red buoy. One negative: the Internet prices are ridiculously high (I believe this is true of most/all Marriotts?) You can get free WiFi nearby at the plaza that contains Cimboco's and Cafe del Sol.

Use the mini-bus system for getting around the island rather than taxis. Buses run on the road right in front of the hotel, and it's a flat fee of $2 Cayman ($2.50 US) to anywhere they go on the western side of the island. You don't even need to be at a bus stop...they will just pick up and drop off anywhere along their route.

Wonderful!
We loved the Marriott Grand Cayman Beach Resort. We were looking for a relaxing, peaceful vacation and that's what we got. The beach is beautiful. The beach staff - always on top of things. Our room (Jr. Suite) was spacious and always well-cleaned and stocked. The surroundings of the Marriott were tropical (complete with turtles and iguannas) and well-kept. We would return in a heart beat!

Cimboca - Great breakfast. Reasonably priced. Terrific service. Triple Crown Pub - Great atmosphere. Good food. Engaging bartender ([...]).Ragazzi Ristorante - Best meal I had! Great wine selection. Kaibo Beach Bar - If you travel to the other side of the island forget Rum Point (crowded - bad service) - go to Kaibo (right down the road). Wonderful!

Over all very nice. The Red Parrot is too expensive for the portions. Ate breakfast there one day and wouldn't do it again.

Beautiful break for the whole family
The hotel was clean (twice daily maid service with turn-down and chocolates in the evening!) and beautiful. There is an artificial reef right off the beach you can practically wade to. It hasn't been there long enough to be covered with coral yet, but there is an amazing amount of sea life. I saw barracuda, yellow sting ray, parrot fish, angel fish, trigger fish, flounder, wrasse and stuff I didn't even know what it was right there, 20 feet from the beach. There is a dive shop on site that caters to every whim whether it be shallow snorkels, deep reef dives, parasailing, sunset boat dinners, you name it, they will get it done for you all with no hassle. The staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. We had a courtyard view room which my daughter and I loved. The courtyard has turtles and iguanas. The bathrooms were a bit smaller than some other Marriotts I have stayed in, and food is incredibly expensive, both on site and off, so be prepared.

Excellent stay by the beautiful beach!
Excellent service with a smile. Our experience was outright amazing, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The location is superb and centrally located at Seven Mile beach. Crystal clear and calm waters, very family and baby friendly. The food is excellent, we were very surprised, specially the steaks and seafood, lobster and shrimp prepared wonderfully. We were very glad the staff was so friendly and going above an beyond during our stay. The rooms are very clean and freshly prepared, looking like you walked into a new room everyday. We highly recommend!

Do's: Cimboca, and Coconut Joe's have great food within a short walk. If you are driving (great experience in the island), you can reach far away great local spots. As touristy as it is, definitely do the swim with the Stingrays, you will not regret the awesome experience! Fun for the whole family! Go with Captain Marvins, they were great, and affordable. I would say do the 2 hour option in the morning specially if you have kids. More than enough time to enjoy, snorkel, etc. A must go restaurant is "The Warf", amazing, and huge tarpons swimming right close to your table waiting for some bread, which you are welcome to feed. Excellent food. Dont's: "Over the Edge" restaurant up North, even well recommended was very disappointing, good prices, but average to bad food, so stay away. The turtle farm is a so-so experience, pretty pricey for what you get to do and see, so I would skip it.

excellent stay
The hotel was excellent. The service was superb they would even help you arrange for day trips within the island, the hotel was located close to many restaurants and Georgetown and the staff was very friendly and helpful. What we enjoyed the most about the hotel was the underwater reef balls that were located in front of the hotel beach area which had spectacular snorkling...tons of fish. The rooms were large, very comfortable and clean. The only down side was a small pool and that there is some construction next door but it was not very disturbing not much noise. The construction seems to be close to completion. Overall it was an excellnt hotel and I would go back to the Marriott Grand Cayman. Just a note to travelers the food on the island is very expensive... all of the restaurants are over priced although the food is excellent...did not have a bad meal on this island.
