Never Again

A bad experience for the most part. The hotel is old and dingy, mustard-yellow stucco buildings in need of a renovation. Our "garden view" room had a lovely view of the public parking lot; not a pool, partial ocean or even a glimpse of a garden to be had. Other than the bar maid, the staff wasn't that friendly, and despite having a coffee maker in the room, there was no coffee, cream or sugar! No iron, hairdryer or wi-fi in the room. The only wi-fi hot spot was in the lobby - something they neglect to mention on the website. One of the elevators in our building was out and the other was filthy and our room floor was dirty too - our feet turned black walking out of the shower and across the room!

Not bad-

Contrary to the negative reviews, my 2 friends n I were actually pleased with our room. We stayed on the 5th fl with pool n ocean view- when the sliding doors were closed, u couldn't hear outside noise (room was right in front of billy bones bar n resto which played music n always busy with customers)- didn't hear roosters until our last day, which was fine as it was making noise from a far- towels were changed daily- had water n hot water all thru out our stay- ONLY thing was, they didn't change sheets (we were there 4 nites) . They should @ least change it every other day if not everyday- - bring hair dryer! If you want to style your hair :) b4 heading out to dinner - Agree, the place needs updating but if you are on a budget, this will do as the room is clean, comfortable 2 queen beds, a kitchenette, decent beach, 2 pools n bars to hang out in, a convenience store down in the lobby for ur needs! & most of all walking distance to camana bay, agua resto, Obar, etc... We spent our money in fine dining and bars! :)

Great vacation

We have been staying at TI since 1996. After the hurricane the hotel didn't recover to it's original state. However for the money it is well worth it. Yes roosters crow but they crow at other places as well. We had great water temperature and adequate pressure. How handy to have a fridge, stove top and microwave. Bring your own dishwashing liquid and dishrag. The room was spacious and beds comfortable. Only complaint is we had a hard time getting clean towels and wash clothes every day. We were close to the pool bar so fairly noisy until midnight or so. Desk help very friendly and security came up and programmed safe quickly. Very easy to walk to town. Maybe 10 minutes. We will definitely stay again. Bathroom didn't have hair dryer but hey I was on vacation.

Take the bus. Don't look like typical bus. Look like VW van. Only $5 for me and my husband to go downtown. Pick you up and drop you off almost anywhere

Great price for the location

If you head to the Treasure Island expecting a 5-Star hotel, you'll be disappointed. BUT...if you realize that hotels a few hundred feet down the road cost literally HUNDREDS of dollars more per night, then you'll really appreciate The 'T.I." I just spent a few nights there enjoyed 2 great swimming pools, an awesome location right on Seven Mile Beach, a Clean room with nice housekeeping staff, fast internet that didn't give me any problems and a quick check in & check out. The only negatives would be that the remote control in my room didn't work (not that I cared - I didnt go to Cayman to sit & watch TV) and it took a while for the elevator to come sometimes. The rooms, while not the Ritz Carlton by any means... are a decent size, were super clean and had what I needed while in Cayman. Great choice for a place to shower, swim & sleep while you're in Cayman.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Great snorkeling right off of Paradise Restaurant in George Town. TONS of fish (including the big, lazy tarpon that love to hang out with you - don't worry, they only LOOK mean. They're big puppy dogs), and a trampoline you can swim out to. Bring your own gear (or rent it for cheap at Diver Supply on West Bay Road) and laugh at the fat that the cruise shippers are paying $30+ to do the same thing you're doing for free (or almost free if you rent). :)

Good Staff but overpriced!

I can say I had a good stay on this hotel, the staff were very friendly and always there for you, but I must say it is very overpriced for what it offers, and people say, well it is the caymans, just an excuse I have stayed on cheaper places on expensiver countries. There is only wifi on the lobby, they provide a cable so you can plug on your laptop, it can be a headache.

The Worst!

Service is bad. Front desk won't answer the phone. They frequent your room whenever they want and don't provide "do not disturb" signs. Dirty facility.

Place to stay for cheap price

Ended up choosing this hotel from a suggestion of someone on the island. The pros are that the price is not that expensive. It is close to the ocean and has access to it, and the local bar in the hotel was fun. Other things just needed some work. The room was clean overall. The water pressure in the bathroom could have been better. We had an issue with towels and getting clean ones or any at all after the maid went through. We were missing a light bulb for some reason and I don't think the sheets were changed on the weekend. There was an internet connection in the room as a 1 port modem. No wireless in the rooms. Dishes, sink, range, microwave, and fridge were nice. The pool was nice, however the jacuzzi was not working.

Good deal for money

Prior to staying at Treasure Island, we had read a lot of negative reviews. This had alarmed us because my memories of Treasure Island as a child were very good. 2 of the 3 pools are fantastic. The 3rd smaller one tends to be where the locals that rent monthly suites from Treasure Island hang out and party. That being said, though, I would not say the partying was intrusive, as we couldn't really hear them from our suite. Billy Bones swim-up bar is a highlight. The room was clean with comfortable beds, though lacking in caribbean decor and ambiance. We paid for an island view suite but must've been upgraded to an ocean view as our patio overlooked the beautiful caribbean sea and nightly sunsets. My negative comments would be about the condition of the walkways and other hotel areas. It could use a little TLC. I like to walk barefoot when in the tropics and didn't appreciate the cigarette butts on the ground, nor the beer bottles sometimes hidden in the bushes by the locals' suites.

Shop where the locals shop, eat where the locals eat. Anything geared towards tourists in Cayman is ridiculously expensive.
