Winter Carnival Atthe Chateau Laurier
We had a very good time at this hotel. The room was a bit small however the bed was quite comfortable. The outdoor hot tubs were clean and very fun, along with the indoor pool. The staff was very attentive and polite. The location of this hotel was perfect, a short distance to old quebec and right in the middle of the Carnaval.

disappointed
In this hotel the service was wonderful, but our European Room left a lot to be desired. There was no Wifi, the TV was small and had a poor picture. The room was small with minimal extra space for luggage and other supplies. We kept shifting things from one area to another and had trouble remaining organized. One side of the bed had no bedside table, as there wasn't room. The bathroom was very small with no counter space, which then required bringing toiletries into and out of the bathroom The location was great, close to everything, making walking the best method to get around.

In the heart of Romantic Quebec City
My wife and I come here every summer since 2008. Our room was on the corner of the Main Strip(where the action happens). The room was half the size of a normal hotel room but that is how it is in Europe and this part of Canada is like Europe, that's why we come here. Older bathroom but everything works. Carpet did need vacuuming but I read that about this hotel before I chose to stay here. There are modern hotels further from the action. This hotel, you can just walk downstairs and you are downtown. From our window, we can see the old fort, the government building and the old town, 1 block away. It gets a 3-star cause it was small and needed just a little more cleaning.

Souffle
Unimpressive
Reserved a room for two with a queen bed. Got a room with two doubles, and were told that the hotel was full, but the good news was that we "would not be charged extra for the bigger room." I couldn't tell if there was some sarcasm I was missing. The room was fine. Not impressive, not dirty or bad. View was equally unimpressive - of a snow-filled courtyard. Check-out time is noon. We thought that turndown would probably be sometime between then and 4:00pm, the latest check-in time. We left in the morning and returned to an un-tidied room at around 3. The people were next door though, so we left to grab a coffee. 45 minutes later, we returned, and our room was still untouched. We gave up, and half an hour later, awoke from a nap to decline housekeeping services. Ordered breakfast the second morning. We selected a 15-minute window (in a check-off form) when it should be delivered; it was late. The meal itself: I would rather have had one of those breakfast platters from McDonalds or Denny's, and I don't eat at those places particularly often. Not a matter of snobbery, I'm pretty easy to please. The toast was soggy, the home fries were clearly frozen, and maybe microwaved. All this cost more than twice what I'd have expected to pay for it. The staff was friendly, and spoke English well. But this place was definitely not worth the money spent. Parking, in the hotel's parking garage, was expensive, and charged by the day on top of the already-expensive room.

Great location, great stay.
Very friendly staff willing to speak English and make the stay enjoyable. The location was perfect for the walled city and the Festival d'été de Québec. The rooms were clean and quiet, especially considering all the commotion going on outside.

Short drive from hotel
During the Festival d'été de Québec, the main street is closed. The detour will take you along the back of the hotel. Look for a small sign for the hotel parking garage.

Chateau Laurier Hotel -- Quebec City
Friendly concierge! She arranged for a countryside tour, a taxi to the airport and gave me good, current information about events happening while I was there. Hotel is close to everything - and the Summer Festival concert stages were within a block or two. I could walk everywhere I wanted to go. Would use it next time I travel to Quebec City.

The Hotel is cosy and nice. The staff was very frendly. If you need a great breakfast I would recommend the restaurant "Cosmos" about 300 m west of Hotel on a Grande Allee. Avoid to go for a breakfast to the tourist zone in a Upper Town - very busy and expensive. As a drawback I would mention very small rooms. But if you are not staying a lot of time in a Hotel - it's not a big deal. Another issue was when I checked out from a Hotel. The consierge insisted that [...] and so they would like to charge me for the room one more time (despite I paid for everything couple days before my trip). Only hotel's manager help to resolve the problem. In general everything was great, especially hotel location, the weather and frendly people around.

Perfect location for winter carnival
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They cordially tolerated my attempts to speak French, but were all quite proficient in English. Every request was acted on immediately. This made a big difference in the quality of our experience. The service was better than nearly every other hotel I've ever stayed in. We asked to change our room upon arrival, which they did right away. (The room they gave us initially was in the old part of the hotel, very charming, on two levels with the bed in a loft above and the bathroom and a seating area below. I would have loved it, but I was concerned about our three-year-old and the stairs, especially in the middle of the night.) Our new room was also in the older section of the hotel. It is well sound-proofed. We were next to the elevator, but never heard a thing. I didn't feel anxious about disturbing anyone else at 6 am when my daughter woke up and began to serenade us with "Elmo's World." The whole hotel is nonsmoking, which was great. The pool area was lovely, but the pool was a bit small. And kind of chilly for my taste-- but our daughter loved it. There was a very nice new-looking sauna there to warm up in. Everything was clean and new. If you are looking for a hotel that is very convenient to the action for winter carnival, you couldn't pick a better place. A quick and easy walk for our preschooler to many restaurants, too. It's also well situated for exploring old Quebec. My only wish is that the check-in time was earlier. We couldn't check in until 4. They did everything they could to make it easy for us, though-- we pre-signed, so all we had to do at 4 was to pick up the keys, and they held our bags for us.
