Area description
Quebec City's bustlin maritime district is stretched out along the St. Lawrence River at the foot of Cape Diamant. At the time, the Old port was like the wall street of Quebec City, and it has retained the sense of openness to the world associated with a commercial and financial hub.

The hotel was the best part of our visit

I like the charm of the old, but the convenience of modern design. Hotel 71 was the best of all worlds. Outside it was very European. Inside, it was sleek and new. Our room was simple, restful but sparkly with glass and chrome, a perfect getawayafter a day with the crowds throughout the old part of town. Started each day with continental breakfast in the very elegant dining. Food was simple but very good. Staff was very helpful. Wish every hotel was this good.

The hotel has a great location...can walk to the museums, walled city, etc. The staff was super....valet parking, made our dinner reservations, and were very helpful, friendly, and bilingual. We would definitely stay here again!

Good Central Location

Hotel 71 was convenient to everything we wanted to do in the city. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided us with points of interest and bikes for our touring at no charge. The interior was bit more modern then expected, but still very nice. We had a nice view from our seventh floor room and the room was very spacious.

Classic with a modern twist!

This hotel is fantastic! The location is ideal, the staff were friendly, and the room felt more like a studio/nice 1 bedroom in a postwar building as opposed to a hotel room. I had a very comfortable stay at Hotel 71. The next time I'm in Quebec this is where I will stay. I normally don't do the hotel restaurant thing, but the Matto was very good. The bar was lively with a sophisticated, unstuffy crowd, and the food was quite good. Hotel 71 pretty much gets thumbs up all around-service, style, and attention to the little things that make a difference.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Visit during the Quebec Summer Music Festival. The city was alive with street parties and concerts and there were many things to do and see in addition to the historic monuments.

Excellent location and staff!

We would go there again in a minute! Staff was superb, very helpful, very French. This is classy, modern, euro hotel in a lovely city of old-world ambience. Free lattes and cappucinos downstairs, free internet access, bicycles provided free of cost. Bed was delightfully comfortable and room well-furnished. The only drawbacks were small, dated workout facility and very few hooks/no towel bars in the bathrooms.

An amazing time for two

We had an amazing time during our stay at Hotel 71. Firstly, the rooms and services were just like what was stated on the website. Secondly, we were very well situated in the Old Port of Quebec City. Thirdly, our rooms were very clean. We were greeted with the utmost respect and courtesy each time we left or entered the hotel. We both felt as though we were in a very classy, relaxed and well maintained hotel. What was missing for my boyfriend and I was a pool to add to the already great gym available at Hotel 71. Instead we settled for massages which were truly out of this world. This wonderful experience at Hotel 71 left us with the feeling that our needs were met. We would definitely come back to Hotel 71 on our next trip to Quebec City. Thank you for such great service!

We loved this hotel - very cool

We loved this hotel - very cool !!! It's very close the port where our ship docked so we were able to walk from the ship to the hotel with our bags even tho' they offered to get them for us !! When the reception staff realised that we would be checking out very early for a 6am flight, they offered to make us a "lunchbox" for breakfast. We came downstairs at 4am and the lovely man on reception not only called us a taxi but made us a cappacino to go !! Wifi was freely available as was cappacinos, coffee in the cafe area to guests. The decor was very cool in brown tones, a sort of mininimalist look with timber floorboards in the room and great lighting in the hallways. Staff were great and nothing was too much trouble. Loved it and would stay there again. (Aussie couple stayed in Oct 2009)
