From the poetically named streets to Place-Royale, relive a page of Quebec's 400 year old cultural history by stepping out of Le Saint Pierre into the picturesque charming district of Old Quebec. Stumble upon an eclectic array of exclusive boutiques, antique shops and art galleries amidst bistros, sidewalk cafes and gourmet restaurants. Le Saint Pierre is located in a 19th-century building which was once a great symbol in Quebec's oldest financial district. Today, le Saint Pierre neighbours the Musee de la Civilisation, a well-known cultural symbol known for its audacious exhibitions. A stone's throw from Quebec's water's edge promenade, you won't want to miss admiring one of the world's most popular ports of call to stunning, luxury 'floating hotels'. Le Saint Pierre has successfully combined the excellence of fine hotel service with the distinct Old Quebec charm of an intimate inn. The property offers bar, business center, concierge, dry cleaning, gym/ fitness facilities, wireless Internet access and parking facilities - at cost. It's a smoke-free hotel. NOTE: There's a city tax of 3% and breakfast is included.

Area description
Being located on two of the oldest streets in Quebec City, Le Saint Pierre, with its woodwork and stone walls, seduces through its old-world charm. Nearby, architectural and historical discoveries await you. To meander through the Old Port is to travel through four centuries of urban and maritime life. If you approach from the river side, take Dalhousie, Sault-au-Matelot and Saint-Pierre streets, formerly known as the "Wall Street" of Quebec City, as most banks were located there. These ancient financial buildings have kept their magnificent architecture. Keep walking through Saint-Paul street, the street of antique dealers, right to the remains of the first palace of Intendant Talon. Coming back, linger for a while in front of the other palace, that of the Palais train station. Finally, get a taste of all the colours of the Marche du Vieux-Port, close to the boats of the Louise basin and changing waves of the St. Lawrence River, between Pointe-a-Carcy and Ile dÂ’Orleans.

Great location

The hotel was in the middle of Old City, near some wonderful shops, art galeries and restaurants. Since it was across the street from the back side of a museum, it was quiet, and was an easy walk to the Funiculaire, which takes you up the hill to the Frontenac and promenade area of the city. Our only problem was that the coffeemaker did not work, and the maids did not speak English. Otherwise, the staff was fabulous!

Really tries hard but...

The staff was fantastic, as was the breakfast and the service in the dining room. The room, however, is need of serious updating and was a disappointment.

Very charming

Our stay at the hotel was very nice. The desk people were very pleasant and most helpful. The concierge service helped us to find a dinner restaurant within walking distance - based on our price and dress. They even had sample menus to help with selection. The next day we needed to find a pharmacy. Again, the desk personnel pointed out a store and gave us a map. The room was very nice, comfortable. The bathroom was large - but needed a chair or table to put personal items on. Breakfast was included. A menu was given guests to select their preferences. The food was good! Service was wonderful! Check out was smooth and easy. The area is very French! All are very helpful to try and use English so we could understand. The entire Quebec area is extremely friendly! The location of the hotel is in "Old Quebec". The area has many quaint shops and restaurants. We were within easy walking distance to the ship port. I would recommend this hotel to all!

Wonderful location ... will return!

Finding the hotel online, you're never sure just what you'll get ... I made the reservations for me, my husband, his parents, and brother/sister-in-law .. so the pressure was on! We couldn't have been more please with the choice, the rooms were spacious and charming, clean, comfortable beds. But the location was the best ... we wanted to be close to all the restaurants and the great shopping of Quebec ... and that was exactly what we got. When we return next year, we will be at the Auberge St. Pierre!

Outstanding Staff and Location

The staff was extremely warm, helpful and friendly. They made it clear that their primary concern was their guests' comfort. Their restaurant recommendations were outstanding. Breakfasts (complimentary at the hotel) were wonderful. One couldn't ask for a better location in Vieux-Port.

Great Location moderate price

The Auberge St. Pierre had a great location in the lower Old City. The staff was very helpful in planning our day. The included breakfasts were wonderful and the staff was attentive. The rooms were clean but could have used better upkeep, some of the tiles in the bathroom were loose and the shower tended to clog. The hotel staff was very helpful in planning our day. The included breakfasts were wonderful and the dining staff was attentive.
