sofitel stay

they were a bit "tight" on the coffee; none in lobby one day after 8:30 a.m., and none at 9 friday morning, such that i went to their restaurant bar where they charged me $4.57 Canadian for a paper cup to go, and I had to tip as well. no guest parking, 100% valet and overnight charges not appealing. -very chewy steak wednesday night, ate at the bar, great service but so-so food experience. -$15 per day internet not very appealing, likely to go back to the tried and true stalwarts hamptons, hiltons, holiday inns where coffee's available 24-7, and internet is free, as well as parking.

Nice Hotel, Good Location, No Spa

Nice hotel, and good location. Resturant and Concierge service was great! A little dissapointed by the lack of jacuzzi tubs in any regular rooms, and the fact that they offer only in-room spa services. Might look into the W next time.

visit to Montreal

The hotel was beautiful. The staff was great. Great location but with it came the traffic noise. After businesses closed up it was much better. But if you are the "average Joe" on an "average Joe" budget, the hotel restaurant is pricey. Parking also was $30 per day.

The Sofitel - a gem

This hotel made our Montreal stay magical. Had a corner room that looked out in two directions on the Golden Mile. Everything was perfect; everything was clean, the staff extremely caring and cooperative, and the rooms quiet and relaxing. Close to McGill University, wonderful restaurants, and the Underground Montreal.

Great Hotel

The hotel room was spacious, clean and modern. We travelled with two small children and two strollers. The room had plenty of space to accommodate all of our "gear". Perfect location downtown, minutes away from all main attractions.

Luxury is an understatement...

I was only there for the night, in at 10PM and out by 7AM, but the experience was great none the less. To start, the valet and reception people were very professional and courteous. I felt that I looked quite shabby after driving all day compared to them, but they treated me no differently. The room was amazingly luxurious, with great bedding, great view, and exceptionally clean carpets/furniture. The toiletries were great smelling, high quality, and included a nice loofah! When I left in the morning, the staff was very helpful in planning my route to Boston. They printed out Google maps, explained them, and even went outside to point the direction. The free coffee at the front desk gave me the pep I needed to start the journey. I won't choose any other hotel when I am in Montréal. It was simply awesome.

Good location, friendly, comfortable

I was there to attend my sister's wedding and pre-wedding activities. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and even distributed my sister's welcome packages to each guest as we checked in. The rooms were spotless. The beds were extremely comfortable. Despite being just a few floors up from the street, the room was also very quiet. The only complaints were the lack of a pool and that the housekeeping staff was too frequently in the room cleaning.

Don't miss the archaeology museum, the old section of the city, and the botanical gardens (especially in Sept/Oct for the Lantern Festival.)

Sofitel Golden Mile in Montreal Canada

Great hotel in a central location. Service is very attentive, maid checks rooms to replace towels etc. in early evening so you have a fresh bath in the morning. Concierge very helpful. Rooms clean and bathrooms spacious. Their beds are heavenly, like sleeping on a cloud. Featherbeds on mattress and feather comforters on top.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Go to the Jean-Talon outdoor market- open daily. Take St. Laurant street up through Little Italy and the market is near Aven. Jean Talon. There are signs. Fruits, vegetables, boulageries (bakeries), cheese and gourmet food stores surround the market. You can't go wrong here for picnic supplies or a nice picnic dinner in your room. Pates, breakfast goodies, wines, cheeses, wonderful breads - just about anything you could want. Shop with the real Montrealers, not the tourists.

great hotel

hotel sofitel in montreal is a great place to stay. the location is amazing! you can walk to mont royal, to museums, to shopping, movie theaters, universities, restuarants/nightlife and it is 1 block to the metro. (we even walk to old montreal from the hotel). the service is great and the rooms are spacious and lovely. the bathrooms have a real tub, separate from the shower. beds are comfy. the hotel restaurant is not great for dinner, but excellent for breakfast. basically, montreal is a terrific city and hotel sofitel is a terrific place to come home to after a long day exploring.
