Good business stay
during rush hour it is difficult to get in the front drive. Valet is necessary and $30 plus tax and fees per night, but they were prompt and cooperative, even though the front was sometimes crowded. I tipped $5 each time I used valet, but I used a taxi a few times. Concierge was very helpful. Rooms were modern and quite comfortable. For some reason I did not get a top sheet, though. Uncomfortable sleeping with the comforter (too hot) or without anything (too cold). I noticed later I could have pulled the stuffing out of the Duvet and it would have been a kind of double sheet. I should have called the front desk and requested an extra flat. Restaurant was good, but like everything else expensive. Service was always wonderful, even for this southern US, English speaking group.

Short walk from hotel
See the Saint Catherine Avenue district night or day. Two blocks straight ahead of the facade. Shopping, eating, and night life. Also take a cab to the old port area in the evening... beautiful, with good eating and great views.

beautiful small rooms, great property
This place is swank. Beautiful (yet kind of small) rooms, beautiful bathroom with multi-faucet stand up shower (there's one for your feet), large HDTV, very comfortable bed. The Renoir bar has good food but the standouts are the cocktails. If you want to be near Old Montreal this may not be the best place, but it's a quick Metro ride, plus there's all kinds of stuff in the area. Bon marche aussi!

Nightlife tip:
Long walk from hotel
If you want live music, you may have to walk or take a cab. I didn't see much in the way of live music around the hotel, although Bell Center is about a 10 min. walk right down Rue Stanley. You would have to take Metro or a cab if you want to go to anything other than a pub or restaurant bar.

sofitel stay
they were a bit "tight" on the coffee; none in lobby one day after 8:30 a.m., and none at 9 friday morning, such that i went to their restaurant bar where they charged me $4.57 Canadian for a paper cup to go, and I had to tip as well. no guest parking, 100% valet and overnight charges not appealing. -very chewy steak wednesday night, ate at the bar, great service but so-so food experience. -$15 per day internet not very appealing, likely to go back to the tried and true stalwarts hamptons, hiltons, holiday inns where coffee's available 24-7, and internet is free, as well as parking.

Nice Hotel, Good Location, No Spa
Nice hotel, and good location. Resturant and Concierge service was great! A little dissapointed by the lack of jacuzzi tubs in any regular rooms, and the fact that they offer only in-room spa services. Might look into the W next time.
