Decent hotel

For the price, this hotel is reasonable. The cleanliness could have been better. The beds were very comfortable. I like this location because it is close to the restaurants on St Dennis and it is part of a metro stop. Old Montreal is a reasonable walk (I like to walk). It was very quiet. I experienced no cooling issues that others described. Shower was fine--no shortage of hot water. In Montreal if you want "perfect" then be prepared to spend over $150/night in peak season. This place was decent, not perfect, which is what I expected for the price. I would stay here again.

While in Montreal eat along St. Dennis or Mount Royal. Reasonable and good restaurants can be found here.

Our Grand Plaza Experience

I wish I had read the reviews of this hotel more carefully...I guess I was trying to be optimistic and not believe the bad reviews. Our room was not the cleanest and defintely needed some renovations. The climate control was non-existent; travelling at an extremely hot time, the room was very hot. We were incapable of controlling the temperature in the room; and were told by 'maintenance' the room temp was controlled only by computer. After many, many complaints there was no resolution, and many, many hot hours of sleep. Yes, I should have insisted on another room.......The pool was disgusting and in need of repair and extremely dirty. My son would not even swim. The area around the pool is approximately 4' wide. Not condusive to a pleasureable swim with your child. The staff was okay. The only bright spot was when we spoke to one of the housekeepers, who was very nice.

Very bad hotel[@]

No A/C at all, hot like oven. You have fan in your room but I guess it does not help in the summer. No in and out for self car parking, You have to pay every time you get in and get out. For valet, if you own a new car, you do not want them to park your car there. Very bad parking space,OLD! Even get us a key into a room where people still living in there (Bad Management)

Great Hotel!

the hotel was great! perfect location, we mostly walked everywhere or paid $7 to get to a street that had a lot of restaurants and clubs. the only thing that I didn't like about the hotel was that when we came their valet parking was full so we needed to park our own car(which was cheaper), I didn't mind that part but the part that upset me was that we paid $16 for 24hour parking but here is the catch! you can't leave the parking garage and come back otherwise you have to pay again even though you paid for 24hours.

Great location for the price

Convenient location! Walking distance from shopping, restaurants, clubs, pubs and other Montreal nightlife. It's also a short cab or bus ride from other downtown attractions. The view from our room was spectacular, and the hotel was clean and comfortable.

Great location, beautiful room

We loved this hotel. Great location, across from Metro station, a short walk to QUAM, and the hotel is lovely. Our room was big, and clean and the beds had fluffy white comforters (not weird bedspreads like some places). The lobby is gorgeous and staff was friendly. Complimentary computers w/ internet in the business center. We walked to St Denis street (1 block) and headed downhill: there was every kind of restaurant (and every budget) and lots of boutique stores. St Catherine street is a pedestrian walkway with lots of shopping and about a 10 minute leasurely walk. The hotel was easy to find - just get off the highway at Sherbrooke and its a straight drive. The parking garage is secure and convenient, but it does have low ceilings - we were in a Honda CRV and only had about 2 inches clearance.
