room charges
I had a five night reservation and asked if I could add another night if needed. I didn't need the extra night but they charged me for it anyway. They were uncooperative and even rude when trying to reconcile this matter.

The location is great (in the middle of everything). The hotel was being refurbished so timing was not ideal. Overall it was good value for what we paid.

Worth looking elsewhere
I was not very impressed by the Novotel in Montreal. The staff was friendly and helpful and being a block away from the Bell Centre was perfect. The bed was comfortable as well. However, the pullout couch was the most uncomfortable pullout I have ever been on and my buddy who slept on it said it was the worst bed he has ever slept on. The shower didn't have a lot of pressure and the shower head was not effective at all. Overall a mediocre hotel and mediocre experience.

GREAT STAY
Hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to everything . Room was modern ,clean and a good size . Hotel staff was courteous, pleasant, and most helpful . Secure self parking was easy with plenty of space available at lower levels for a town car / SUV . Hotel restaurant was reasonable and surprisingly good ,and recognized by AAA and other travel guides .

Construction
The hotel was in a great location. While the hotel lobby and the rooms were very nice, several of the floors were under renovation and we were of course put into one of the rooms. Upon exiting the elevator to our hotel floor, I thought we were in the basement. The hall smelt like paint. We were woken up at 8 in the morning to hammering and sawing and on another morning while in the room heard scrapping on our door. Several times when returning to our room men had to stop working so that we could get past them. When we discussed this with the front desk, they said there was nothing they could do because we had booked the hotel through [...]. They gave us free breakfast for one morning, but we would have preferred moving our room.

Nice hotel, great location
I was in Montreal for a conference. Although it shows as a 4 star-hotel, it's clearly a 3-star hotel. The room and bathroom were clean but on the small side. The staff was helpful. The best thing about the hotel is the location, a block away from restaurants and shops. Great value if you compare its price with other hotels in the area. Not so good: no decaf in the rooms, no beverages in the lobby, minimum toiletries in the bathroom.

Not worth it
Hotel seemed to be under renovation, even though it was not listed (wallpaper not completely attached to the walls, some sheetrock exposed, carpet not completely attached to floor in room). The thermostat in room did not seem to work when we wanted the room to be warmer. Plasma TV in room did not have a clear picture and only had black and white! We felt like we were going back in time, and not in a good way.

Great for Hockey Games.
Great experience with a friendly staff. Check in time is a bit late which is frustrating when you get there and have no place to go for a few hours.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Very short walk to the Bell Centre for a Canadiens game. The hall of fame in the arena is well worth the price of admission.
