Nice but pricey . . .
We booked this hotel on a whim at the end of a driving tour of New England, thinking it would be nice to spend a few days in luxury prior to our flight home. And it was - but what we ended up paying was somewhat more than we had anticipated. For a start, there seems to be a hefty tax on Canadian hotel rooms, as well as a significant per diem charge for wi-fi access. The daily rate for parking is also astronomical - but we expected that. However, there was an excellent breakfast deal - a very reasonably-priced and substantial meal for two. Take the deal if it's offered - it may have been a special on this occasion.

Wonderful stay
My husband and I stayed at the IC in late August for a leisurely extended weekend and we were both bery happy with our hotel choice. The interior of the common areas is very contemporary, striking the right balance between style and comfort. Our room was immaculate and comfortable, with a spacious bathroom. The staff was courteous and professional. The hotel is located within walking distance of both the old town and downtown, perfect if you want to explore different parts of the city. Also close to metro, which we used to get to less centrally located areas. We highly recommend this property.

Underwhelming for an Intercontinental
Hotel in an excellent location...close to shopping, charming Old Montreal...and excellent restaurants (Toque, Garde Manger, etc). There was no one around to either greet, help or assist when we arrived...there was no bellman, no valet, and reception was upstairs...with no sign pointing that we had to go up the escalators which are hidden in the next room to the entrance off St. Antoine. Staff were not friendly or helpful upon check out either. Not up to par for an intercontinental hotel. Things seemed disorganized and there was no flow to the layout of the hotel. There are lots of hotels in Montreal...this one needs to get with the program...SERVICE is the differentiator.

Someone's Been Sleeping in My Bed
I stayed with friends for a bachelor party and loved the modern vibe. Great hotel, nice location. Urban chic style of design. The lounge is especially well designed and sets a very cool mood. Upon arrival to my room, it was clear that someone had been taking a nap of sorts on my bed. There was a used hand towel and glass bedside. A pillow was at the foot of the bed with a bath towel laid across it. When I called the front desk they informed me that they were booked full and didn't know what I wanted them to do for me. At my request they replaced the towels, but weren't terribly accommodating. The pool is a fairly small lap pool, but outside is also a narrow but relaxing sun deck. The bartenders were very friendly and informative with history, suggestions on dinner, etc. Aside from the room not being 100% welcoming, I did enjoy my stay here greatly.

A wonderful City, a Great Hotel
Montreal is a wonderful city to visit; the Intercontinental Hotel is a beautiful hotel located near the Olde City and within walking distance of the many Historic churches and the Museums of Arts. A great hotel with a wonderful and knowledgeable staff; Osco Restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Montreal

Hidden Gem
I would go back to this hotel in my next visit. The location was super: just across the Palais des Congres, close to the 'old town', near the wonderful restaurants, and the river St Laurent. The rooms were newly renovated, charming, and quiet. One small inconvenience: the lobby was on the 2nd level accessible by an escalator, and there are no elevators from the street level. I also enjoyed the cafe downstairs for breakfast and lunch. It had freshly baked croissants etc.
