Gentlemen's club adjacent to my room

We had a horrible experience due to the music thumping through our room wall, which actually vibrated the bed and nightstand. We were told that there were no other rooms. Bathroom supplies were weak. Towels were extremely worn. Breakfast? Nobody told us....

Better Options a Few Blocks Away

While Hotel Quartier Latin Montreal was ideally located on the main street with restaurants, bars, and shopping - and incredibly inexpensive per night - these conveniences were not enough to balance the low quality. The bath towels were paper thin. The bedspread had cigarette burn holes in it. The pillows were lumpy. There were no electric amenities (hair dryer, alarm clock, lamp). The hallways looked like a prison with the room numbers written in large, red block letters on gray slab doors without peep holes. The breakfast was 1 cup of orange juice and 1 cup of tea or coffee with EITHER a muffin or a croissant (neither fresh). But worst of all, I was awakened from a dead sleep in the middle of the night by noises more appropriate for the Gentleman's Club located next door to the hotel. When I called downstairs to complain, I was told they would "probably subside in about 15 minutes." Montreal is such a lovely city, but this hotel was the exact opposite.

Amaxing quick trip to MOntreal

Actually didn't end up staying at the hotel. We got in hours earlier than expected, way before check in time. We asked if we could check in early but the room wasn't available. We were exhausted from the drive and ended up sleeping in the car for a while before someone from the hotel came out and told us they had gotten us a room at their sister hotel, Hotel Elegant, a block away, and that it was ready now, at no extra charge. Absolutely amazing and unexpected.

1 night stay

The hotel has a very good location and, even if it's shabby, the price was fair. But don't expect having a good breakfast : first of all 15min before the time they are supposed to close the kitchen, you can't get in. you have to go back to your room. It was the worst coffee we ever had. And we won't even talk about the food... Moreover, the man in charge of the breakfast was very unkind.

not what it says, but fine

Perhaps there is central air, but definitely it was 80 degrees (f) in my room and the only "A/C" control I had was a fan (at least they provided a fan) Opening the window was problematic because of the noise from the other rooms. The hotel is a four-story walk-up, with the lobby on the 2nd floor (the first floor is garden-level). It is a GREAT location for shops, cafes, theatre, and the metro. The wifi was indeed free, but it was spotty, slow, and unreliable at best; mostly it just didn't work at all.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Park at the Grand Library (access on Rue Savoie -- the front desk can give directions). If parking on the first level, pay the machine (horodateur). If parking on the lower level, swipe a credit card to get in and do NOT pay the machine. Then swipe the same credit card to get out and it will charge the right amount. Parking is free on Sundays; I didn't see a sign, but it definitely is.

You get what you pay for

The hotel has a great location for its price but you get very loud guests and young kids trying to party all night. Rooms are small and clean. Staff is friendly.
