Great Experience
This hotel had a great location in Old Montreal and a 5 min walk to the Notre Dame cathedral. The hotel itself was very clean, eclectic, and was full of Old Montreal charm, it also had the best staff, especially the concierge Maude who recommended the best restaurants, sightseeing, and explained the areas and which trains to use to get there. Overall this was a great experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone. For those driving parking is provided by the hotel for a daily fee.

Cozy, sophisticated and friendly
We had a one-night stay at Hotel Nelligan. The staff was so helpful. They quickly park your car in a basement off the street which was comforting. The valet staff were extra helpful in showing us how to use the subway system and we were able to leave our car all the next day while we went to a museum. The room was delightful with exposed old brick and classical music playing as we entered. There were robes and the bath was also a delight. The rooms encircle an atrium which adds light and one of the restaurants is at the bottom of the atrium near the entrance. Great value. Lovely breakfast.

A great week in Montreal
We spent a week at the Nelligan, enjoying upgrade to a suite at no extra cost. Great venue for the Old Port and Downtown areas, and a very attractive, comfortable hotel, which was very welcoming. I have no hesitation in recommending the Nelligan. Easy to explore the best of Montreal from this site, and the Rue St Paul is a lively hub.

really enjoyed our stay
Had a great experience at the Hotel Nelligan. I went for a romantic trip with my boyfriend, and the hotel delivered. It's in a great location in Old Montreal, within walking distance of so many great things. The room itself was clean and spacious with nice high ceilings. Classical music was playing in the room when we arrived. The front desk staff was very friendly, and most times entering/exiting the hotel, someone was there to open the door for you and greet you. I also really liked the exposed brick and just the general decor. Very tasteful. The hotel is rather expensive, but that seems somewhat the norm in the Old Montreal area for comparable hotels. It all comes down to location, location, location. All in all though, I would definitely recommend the Hotel Nelligan and was happy for my stay (in fact, I now have the hotel as the wallpaper on my iPhone to remind me of my stay :) )

Marvelous time in Montreal
From quick & easy check to the unfortunately early morning check out, the staff and the entire hotel experience was awesome. Perfect location to wander the old city streets or get to the metro or port and the rooms made you want to stay inside rather than visit this fabulous city!! The quaint room decorations and the music from the stereo encouraged total enjoyment. Would come back to this city and especially this hotel in a heart beat!!

Short walk from hotel
Walk right out of the hotel door and stop in any of the wonderful restaurants for a fantastic meal. We ate in several of them and never had other than a marvelous experience. We had 8 in our group. Hard to make a reservation, but easy to just show up and get seated.

Great but just misses the top spot.
Lovely feel in this hotel - very warm and welcoming. Love the architectural style. Now the negatives and I'm really nit-picking here. These didn't really spoil my stay but if you want to be perfect the devil is in the detail. Upon entering the room the stereo was on at a low level but not tuned into a station properly. Each day when the room had been serviced - the same thing. If you're going to go to the effort of turning the stereo on - at least tune it into a channel so I don't have low level static playing when I enter. Very odd. There were cobwebs where the wall meets the ceiling above the bed. ...and that's about it really - the rest was great. Worth the money? I guess that depends on what you like. I would return.

Beautiful Hotel in the Best Location!!
My first visit to Montreal - magnifique!! The Nelligan is in a prime location in Old Montreal, on a cobble-stoned street that leads into an area lined with cafes, galleries, shops & restaurants! We began our evenings at the Nelligan's roof-top bar/restaurant which, in addition to magnificent views, appears to be THE place to be seen in the late afternoon/evening. Breakfast at the Nelligan was wonderful...we also found a cafe a few blocks away where we had scrumptious pastries. Dinners at nearby restaurants were incredible! We were in Montreal for the Rodgers Cup and took the Metro to/from the tournament. It was so easy to travel back & forth on a transportation system that was fast, reliable and incredibly clean! I'm already planning my return visit .......

Sightseeing tip:
Not Applicable
(1) because of the popularity of Nelligan's rooftop bar, request a room NOT on 5th floor (ours was on the 5th floor just down the hall from the bar's entrance) -- very noisy as the night went on and at closing. (2) Ladies: wear comfortable shoes for walking ... cobblestone streets are tricky to maneuver in heels!!
