Best little hotel in Montreal

The cleanliness of your room alone is refreshing! This hotel is a block from a major subway hub (the Berri-UQAM station) and close by to many of the city's bus lines. The desk staff are pleasant and accommodating. We had a seamless check-in and check-out. Each day, our room was done perfectly, and the bathroom was spotless and restocked with shampoo and soaps. Can't get better than this, folks!

GREAT PLACE!

Very clean - staff is attentive - the on-site restaurant is very good. Close to the "Village" area, and one block from a major Metro station. Mass transit is terrific - you don't need a car. The hotel was an A+ experience.

Perfect location

This was my first visit to Montréal and I wanted to see as many places as possible, for this reason I looked for a hotel near the subway station and within walking distance of the Old Town. Hôtel Lord Berri is fifteen-twenty minutes away from City Hall (depending your walking speed) and three minutes away from the Berri-UQÀM subway station (which is the crossway of two lines). Also, it is a stone drop away from Saint-Catherine Street's gay section (a section that is pedestrianized during the Summer months). Location was perfect as I was able to walk to the Old Town, the Saint-Lawrence riverside, Saint-Catherine Street. I took the subway to the other places I visited (Saint-Joseph's Oratory, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Christ-Church Cathedral, and the Olympic Park). The room was spacious and clean but the look was okay. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly. The hotel has parking space in the basement (I drove from New York City) but the space is limited (otherwise you may park in the nearby parking lot, which is slightly cheaper but exposed to the weather as it is overground). The weather was warm (78-82ºF), dry and sunny throughout my stay and I very much enjoyed the city.

Good hotel

This was a lovely hotel, well situated - a block from the Metro and the pedestrian zone. The staff were courteous and helpful. It would have been helpful to have had in the advertising that parking is usually unavailable in the hotel (perhaps if one reserved parking ahead of time?) but good parking was available in the lot next door. The restaurant was very good, if pricey. I would go back to this hotel.

Needs more staff at front desk.

Took a long time to check in and out because only one staff member was on duty. They had to answer phones while serving customers. It took me around 30 mins to checkout.

Really friendly and helpful staff!

This hotel is a great value. It is located in downtown Montreal, just a few minutes' walk to Old Montreal, Chinatown, the Plateau region (lots of great restaurants!), McGill University, Mount Royal, and the Rue Berri subway stop (which can take you directly to Olympic Park). The parking lots and hotels next to this one look a bit sketchy (old, not well maintained) but Hotel Lord Berri was very nice and the "unkempt-looking neighbors" weren't an issue at all. The room was nice - two very comfortable queen beds, a very spacious bathroom, a large TV, and even an empty fridge! The parking situation is a little tricky. Parking in Montreal is very expensive ($3/hr at the meters) and the hotel has a limited number of parking spaces (for about $17+tax). If they run out of spaces, you have to find parking on your own (which is what happened to us). Fortunately the lot adjacent to the hotel offers covered and uncovered parking at $10 daytime / $15 overnight, the drawback being you have to pay multiple times if you exit and re-enter. Apparently you shouldn't park overnight at a parking meter due to street cleaning. The hotel staff, especially Jonathan, was incredibly helpful. He noticed that this was our first time in Montreal, so he drew on a map for us and explained the best places to visit, how to get there, transportation costs, and what things to watch out for. For example, we arrived right in the middle of the student protests (regarding the tuition hike) and Jonathan warned us that the protest march starts at 8pm at the corner of the street that the hotel is on and moves towards the plateau region, so it will get pretty loud with students banging on pots. But the demonstrations are typically peaceful, and advised us to cross the street and avoid the protestors if we are afraid. Because of Jonathan's advice and helpfulness, we were able to see everything we wanted to see in Montreal in the 12 hours that we had to explore the city. For the price we paid (around $120/night), the friendliness of the staff (even the cleaning ladies!), the prime location of the hotel, and the comfort of the rooms made Hotel Lord Berri a great value of a hotel!

Walk everywhere. Save money on transportation. Montreal is a very walkable city. If you want a long-ish distance scenic trip, rent a bixi - these rental bikes are everywhere in Montreal. Bike paths, likewise, are everywhere.

A weekend with the Girls

My friends and I stayed at the Hotel Lord Berri for one night while celebrating my birthday. The hotel staff was very helpful during check in and when we needed to receive a cab. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The room included a closet, a nice sized bathroom, desk two double beds a built in bench an a very nice view. The only problem was that the windows do not open but the sound protection was amazing, we never once heard traffic. Also we had a nice view of Notre Dame from our 5th floor room. The hotel it self was very clean and close to everything we wanted to be near. A short cab ride to the bars and steps away from beautiful old Montreal. We will definitively be staying here again. Our only problem the entire trip was the parking available for the hotel only offered a 10 dollar lot where you leave your keys or 20 dollar parking in the garage of the other hotel.

Pleasant hotel

Hotel is a short block from the Metro and close to shopping on St. Catherine St. Very nice to be close to the end of the bus line from and to the airport. Clean and pleasant is good enough - I don't need fancy amenities.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Short walk to the Metro - and only 2 metro stations to Place des Arts which connects to the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Ballet and Symphony as well as Theatre - all underground which makes a difference in the winter.
