Works for the younger crowd

Would not recommend Mon, Apr 21, 2008
The Hotel Lord Berri was not quite within walking distance to downtown & Bell Centre area, so taxi (off-hour)-metro(biz hours, stop around the corner) or car is necessary. The hotel only has 10 or so parking spots (first come...) and the parking lot (independent) next door is a rip-off and cash only. Would not bother with lot at all. Used condoms, beer cans, shards of glass... and got blocked in late in the PM as the hotel was not given the key. College neighborhood active at all hours & plenty of noise, but fun for twentysomethings. Not a family place. Wireless laptop did not function locally due to unknown conditions, but worked fine when away from the area. Overall a decent hotel with fair pricing, but parking is a big-time problem and the worst part of my trip.

Nightlife hint

Lots of cheap dining & bars around the corner on St. Catherine. Urban college area (Univ of Quebec at Montreal) right there.

Not bad for the money. The location is a little far from Crescent and Saint laurent. Walkable but a little long

Nightlife hint

Take the train which is right at the corner.

The Hotel Lord Berri was very comfortable and in a great location in Montreal. I was able to walk everywhere I needed to go. This hotel is in the center of all the nightlife in the village.

Perfect Location

The Hotel Berri was a great value. The location was excellent. It was within two blocks of the Berri metro station in the Latin Quarter, and it was within walking distance of Old Montreal. The room was small but very comfortable and tidy. When we had to call down for towels, the service was prompt. Check in was relatively quick. The restaurant in the hotel served a fine and reasonably priced breakfast. The fruit plate with cottage cheese was huge, and the wait staff was very friendly. The ATM in the lobby was very helpful. All in all, it was a great place to stay!

Dining

Two blocks to Berri metro station. Short walk to restaurants on St. Denis in Latin Quarter. Long walk to Old Montreal, Chinatown, or the International Distict.

Great Location

The best part of the hotel stay was the location. We walked everywhere, but also took advantage of the Metro and bus station - each about a block away. We took the bus from the airport and also took the bus to Quebec City for the day. Old Montreal and China Town are close to the hotel and there are lots of cool places to shop and eat on St. Denis - one block over. The hotel room had a mini bar which was great to store snacks in. There was a computer kiosk in the lobby which was very cheap to use to get on the internet. The staff was alway friendly and very helpful in giving us directions, plus were able to exchange American cash for Canadian.

Dining

Juliette & Chocolat - a cafe/creperie/chocolate bar. You have to try their Chocolate fondue with fruit!! 1615 rue St. Denis. Few blocks from the hotel. Little Italy and its Marche Jean-Talon is an amazing and huge farmer's market. Its a long walk or you can take the Metro orange line to the Jean-Talon stop.

Great location

Would recommend Mon, Jul 23, 2007
The Hotel Lord Berri was comfortable and attractive. The location is right in the heart of the Old Quarter, steps away from the Metro and the bus station, making it easy to enjoy all the tourist attrations in Montreal. The hotel restaurant is outstanding and a real treat. Don't miss eating out on the patio. Everything is homemade. We enjoyed an all you-can-eat mussells dish with fantastic wine and wonderful atmostphere. We hope to come back again soon.

Attractions

Don't miss the Old Pier, only 3 blocks away. There is a wonderful promenade for walking and bicycling. One can rent bycicles and paddle boats. There is also the Montreal Science Center, Imax theatre, Bonsecour basin, river cruises, and riding the Lachine rapids (fantastic!). Great for the whole family.
