Mmmmm, could have some difficulties...

I went with several friends to go to a music festival. The hotel location is great, right next to the central Berri-Uqam metro station and the park on St. Catherine's. As for my experience, I was pleased; parking was convenient, breakfast wasn't bad, and the view from our room was spectacular. However, I noticed many other people not having the best time; there were problems where the elevator system didn't work late one night. Someone was freaking out when the concierge disappeared with their luggage for a long time. And several families were upset because the pool hours were only in the early morning and late afternoon. If you're going with a family for a relaxing stay, I'd look elsewhere. If you just want a nice hotel for going out and hanging with friends, though, this might work out well.

Ok Hotel

Parking was nearby, but was kind of a pain. Staff was helpful. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom was out dated. I wouldn't say that they paid attention to detail as far as cleanliness. We had a great view of the city and walked to Old Montreal within 15 minutes. Overall, good value, you get what you paid for.

great location....makes up for wear and tear

Great location...staff tries hard...but the the wear and tear on the place over the years is now showing. Beds were great, but the plumbing and toilet situation took away from the trip. The first room we had, the toilet flooded the room within five minutes of arrival. Staff moved us, but the plumbing was still very shaky. Please renovate this place. The new Dupuis Plaza is awesome, great rehab. This place could be a jewel.

good location but poor staff

Very poor and unfriendly staff. Hotel is surely at a good location well connected into a metro/subway station. I had late check-in at 6-7pm where after losing more than a hour or time staff was reluctant to be accommodating with a kid and expectant wife. Never plan to book again with this chain of hotels.

Good location

Good location with easy access to transit and restaurants. A nice panorama of Montreal from the room on higher floors. Old hotel so do not expect extraordinary amenities. Friendly staff.

perfect hotel for grand prix weekend getaway.

Its a very good location for grand prix enthusiasts. One doesnt need a car to get there. ( We might not have a good experience with the metro personnel as she presumed we know everything with the commute.) The staff is very good as each one tried to communicate in english (once they realized were not from the province). Were just so used to having fridge and microwave in our rooms but otherwise its an excellent place to stay. Its also close to those who enjoy the nightlife.

Nice, but not a 4-star hotel

The hotel is nice enough and very close to St Catherine and convenient to the Village. The rooms are sparsely furnished, the carpet is somewhat old, and the bathroom sink is small, the toilet has the annoying loud sound of the AC when you turn on the light. This may have been a 4-star hotel at another time but it no longer is. However, the internet worked well, and it's a comfortable enough to spend a few days if your expectations are not as high. I think it was slightly overpriced for what it offered.

Great short sweet visit

The hotel was located downtown at western edge of the Latin Quarter, close to Railroad station. Took a cab to hotel-@12.00 til we had time to figure out Metro system. Older decor, clean, comfortable beds. Friendly, helpful staff.

Small bistros a few blocks away. Great IGA grocery store in small mall adjacent to hotel-bakery, sandwiches, drinks, snacks. Also, Metro station is across the street on corner of next block.

excellent stay

Our stay at the Gouverneur was a relaxing and pleasurable one. The location was perfect in Downtown Montreal, very convenient to the Metro, Place Des Arts and shopping on St. Catherine. The staff was very attentive and made excellent recommendations for finding local cuisine.
