I was in Montreal for a 3-day conference. I was booked in a "Club-level Room" at the Delta, which included hors d'oeuvres, ... deluxe continental breakfast, and high speed internet. I was originally checked in to Room 2011, a non-smoking room, but complained because it was clear that someone had recently spent a lot of time smoking in there. I was moved to Room 2103. Too bad. This was a smaller room, with barely enough room for the desk chair between the bed and desk. Worse, however, was the fact that the room was infested with bed bugs. I woke up with fresh bites both mornings of my stay. Were it not for the bed bugs, and the fact that the cable TV choices were awful (barely any English-speaking channels and no HBO or Showtime), I'd rate it four-star for good value [...] and a good location (just off of Rue Sherbrooke and easy walking distance to the McGill Subway Station, McGill University, Parc Mont Royal, and City Center). But since there were bedbugs and the TV selections sucked, I have to give the Delta a still generous 3-stars.

While not luxurious, the Delta Montreal was perfectly adequate. The room was clean, the staff polite and bilingual. The ... swimming pool was closed for refurbishing (Nov 2009) but the fitness room was open. There was a flier posted publicizing the showing of a film within the hotel for children and families one of the weekend evenings. The location was well within walking distance to the Palais des Congres (Convention Center), the Museum of Contemporary Art, shopping on Rue St. Catherine, the Cathedral. The Old City is about 25-30 min. walk away. The surrounding streets are well-lit; I (a single woman) felt safe walking back to the hotel after dark. Each room has a small balcony accessed through a sliding door.

The hotel was in close proximity to where I had an appointment. But while the lobby of the hotel looked great, my room ... looked like it has not been updated since the mid 90s. The room was a good size. The bed and pillows were comfortable. But the carpet looked like it hasn't been changed in the last 10 years. It wasn't even smooth. The clock by the bed displayed the wrong time. There was enough towels though. Overall for the value, I'm okay with it. I just expected it to look like a four star hotel.

Great Location, Fair Interior
Marathon Traveler Sep 21, 2009
I booked 9 nights with Delta since it was the official hotel for Montreal Marathon; Delta has two locations in Montreal, and ... I was not able to get Montreal Central as the official hotel for marathon participant so I resorted to Delta Montreal. As it turned out, Delta Montreal is probably a better location for visitor as it's centrally located and just down the block from a Metro station. We can see Place de Arts from our window and was pleasantly surprised to see Film Festival and an inaugural Festival over Labor Day Weekend. When we checked in after 5 PM, the front desk told us our room was not ready but was able to upgrade us to a room with free internet access. Room size is spacious with a desk, and an old TV. I was hoping there'd be a small refrigerator but no such luck. The one thing that really bothered me about the room was the carpet was old and dirty, with places bulging upward. We also had trouble opening the front door and the lock failed twice the first day. They responded quickly after we complained and gave us one complimentary breakfast the next morning. I used their pool once, and it was nice their gym and pool are free for guests.

If you book Aerobus to go back to airport, it's best you call Aerobus to book the free shuttle to the main bus station rather than using Concierge as they'll try to have you take taxi in order to get a cut in commission. The Concierge who helped me booked a 4:15 AM shuttle to take me to the main bus station for an Aerobus leaving at 5 when it's only 5-10 minutes away; he told me the shuttle would take 45 minute to get to the bus station. I didn't give in since I already bought the return ticket and was not willing to give him the satisfaction. My suspicion was confirmed when shuttle bus driver picked me up and told me "hotel people are stupid" and try to get people to take taxi instead.

Location was perfect, right across McGill University dorm. Friendly, helpful staff. We originally booked a regular (Delta) ... room, but was offered an upgrade for $20/night upon check in. Upgraded room had free internet access so we took it; but we were disappointed as it was a wired (ethernet) connection; only 1 person/computer could go online at a time; this was really inconvenient as there were times when my son & I had to go online at the same time but had to wait for the other to finish. The room was spacious but the bathroom (tiles, bathtub, counter) was dated; lthough the spa collection (soap, shampoo, etc) was really nice.

My overall experience was pretty good. However the only thing I must say is that my nonsmoking room was not guaranteed. In ... order for me to have what I wanted I had to settle for a smoking room for the first night and move to a non smoking room the rest of my stay there.Or I could have upgraded myself to a better room for 20 dollars a night. I choose for the upgrade because I did not want to move midway during my stay. I feel that I was roped into paying for a higher rate from the beginng. When I make a resevation with Orbiz the room should be guaranteed. Thanks

Clean, comfortable hotel
Washigntonian Sep 7, 2009
Hotel was great; very clean and in a perfect location. The room is very large and comfortable. The bed, pillows and the ... comforter are great! You don't hear the street noise. It is quite except for drunk young guests laughing loud in the hallway. But orbitz reserved only a smoking room for me although I didn't request a smoking room(Orbitz's rate was lower than others, no wonder!). When I went to the room, I couldn't breath, the smoke smell was so heavy. I asked the receptionist, she was nice enough to change the room but didn't give me a non-smoking room, because the reservation was for a smoking room! Other than that rooms are large and clean. The staff is nice but don't sound very knowledgeable. The parking is always a problem in the hotel. Ask detailed questions in the beginning about the parking rates and time etc. You can easily park in the street during the weekend.

The rather large room that was first offered dusty with trash between the furniture and the wall, the carpet did not appear ... clean. The furnishings were not coveniently arranged. The walls were rather bare. The doors and trim was in need of painting. Wall paper looked aged. After the first night we requested another room. The new room was clean. But the appointments were in need of refurbishment. The telephone did not work. Except for the lobby area the carpet in the corridor was uniformly soiled.

The hotel is strategically located in downtown Montreal: It is close to the city's main tourist spots (Mount Royal, Place des ... Arts, Old Montreal) as well as various shopping places (La Baie, Complexe des Jardines). Two subway stations are within walking distance (Place des Arts and McGill), from which any point of the city can be reached. FIRST CLASS SERVICE AT THE DELTA!
JAZ FROM CALIFORNIA Aug 28, 2009
Our experience at the Delta Montreal on JFK Avenue was a memorable one In particular being our fist visit to Montreal ... ever! We stayed at the Delta Montreal 7 days. I have to say that they were indeed memorable days primarily because we enjoyed the culture and beauty of a city like Montreal without being concern our about our accommodations. My wife and I have stayed at higher rating Hotel while travelling throughout the USA, Europe, South and Central American; nevertheless, the staff at the Delta Montreal is right up there with those of a five star hotels! That is because the staff of the Hotel is very professional and customer oriented! You would determine THAT the moment you arrive at the Hotel and come in contact with them. They are there to assist you and make your stay at the Hotel as pleasant and memorable as they can. These people are well trained and extremely concern about the well-being of their guests! They are polite, helpful and responsive to whatever issue(s) one might have. To illustrate, upon our arrival there was a reservation mix up regarding our non-smoking room reservation made by our agent. In spite of the fact that there was not solid evidence to confirm (that) our travel agent made such a request, they immediately took care of the matter by upgrading our room and given us a non-smoking room. Equally important, they did so in such a professional way as to not to blame a particular institution or person, or for that matter, shifting the burden to the guest!

This is one of the most honest places I've been to. Merchants seemed to operate under a high standard. Therefore, if you buy anything that is fragile or bulky, it's a lot easier and less complicated to have the merchandise ship directly to you to the USA. It only takes a couple of weeks and your merchandise would arrive safe and sound at your house. The cost? very enexpensive! and very safe!

Booking with Orbitz or other sites and requesting a non-smoking room is not guaranteed. You must call the hotel direct after ... booking to confirm a no smoking room. The carpets in hall and rooms show wear and a little dirty. The hotel is planning a refurbish this fall. Great location, 1 block to subway, quiet, etc. Plan you evening dinner as most close by 10 pm.
