Great Place to Stay in Longueuil

Great hotel in almost all ways. I truly recommend this hotel. Only one thing that you might need to stay away from in the hotel is the "telephone" because you might regret that you use it if you call any number other than numbers with the same area code as the hotel's. Other than that, everything is great.

weekend stay

The only thing for us was that it took us quite some time to figure out the driving route to get back to the hotel from the city. I would say that everything else was what we paid for.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

If you happen to drive back to the hotel from the casino at night time, watch closely to signs, or you may get lost.

Celebrating 25th Wedding Anniversary

Hotel was difficult to find--GPS would not let us load the address. Once found, it was a wonderful hotel--especially for the price. Once there we upgraded to a smoking room that also included a complete morning breakfast buffet. Location next to subway station allowed us to keep our car parked (at no charge) and walk to any place we wanted to see. At hotel, ice machines on all floors out of order, but staff would bring ice as needed.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Short walk from the St. Catherine subway stop was The Village which had streets blocked off and all types of outdoor eating choices. Closer to the edge of this area was less expensive. Area advertised as gay but welcomes all.

Easy to reach, great access to Metro system

What makes this hotel stand out is that it is right next to a Metro station (distance about 10 m), which gives you easy access to La Ronde (next stop) and all of Montreal... The Hotel is OK, with friendly staff and has a pool and a fitness centre - great for the kids. Easy to reach from the highway.

Decent Hotel

The hotel is pretty decent for the price we paid. Its location is very convenient, even though it is outside of Montreal. The metro station right next to the hotel was a great help! We pretty much got around everywhere in Montreal on metro. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel only has one restaurant, which does not have much of a choice.

An Overall Good Stay

We went up to Montreal for a "spur of the moment" trip. We didn't really know what to expect since we didn't know too much about traveling in Montreal, but we wanted to book a hotel somewhere outside of Montreal, which was also accessible by the metro. We ended up staying at the Sandman in Longueuil. It was a little confusing getting there due to the nearby construction, but we made it after a few tries. There is plenty of parking, which is free for guests staying there. The front desk was very friendly and spoke French and English fluently. This was a big plus for us since we could only speak English. They were also very helpful in giving directions and assistance for tourists like ourselves. In terms of the room - it's your average hotel room. There's an indoor pool and small gym w/ weights and cardio machines, which were usable. There's the Station Longueuil-Université de Sherbrooke (metro), so getting into Montreal was convenient. It also has a food court, so we could have breakfast in the morning and then take the subway into the city. Overall, a good stay. For the price we paid per night, it was a good value.

Great deal, location, room, staff, and lobby

This was one of two Sandman hotels where I stayed on a road trip across Canada, and as an American I had never heard of the chain. It was a very pleasant surprise. This hotel near Montreal was very well run by a friendly and professional staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable, a nice restaurant was available in the lobby, and the place possessed a very classy ambiance, something I wasn't expecting in this price range. The rooms could be a little noisy from the traffic on the nearby freeway-- asking during check-in for one as far away from that as possible is a good idea. The subway stop, however, was literally next to the hotel, which was wonderfully convenient for exploring the city and avoiding expensive parking conundrums. That reminds me, for a while in the early morning, cars were double-parked in the hotel lot, which of course is inconvenient for those checking out early. All in all, I really enjoyed my stay here and found the staff to be exemplary. Looking forward to coming back again someday.
