Terrible Customer Orientation

My flight was delayed fro the original schedule and I lost my connection in NY to arrive onto Toronto. Therefore, I couldn't get to the Hotel until the next following day. Even when you explained that to the Hotel, they didn't accept to reimburse or carry over the reservation to the next day. This is terrible customer orientation, as the hotel was far from full, and the fact that they didn't even offer a discount and they took the full payment without the service it is unforgivable. Unfortunately this also speaks how poor or weak your power of negotiation is with some hotels, to make them comply with certain exceptions in order to keep clients happy or at least showing some sensitivity to unforeseen situations.

Love this Hotel

I loved this hotel, the staff was great and friendly! the Location was Ideal for me. I was only dissapointed that the pool was not open, that was the only reason I gave the amenities 4 stars. I do wish the WIFI would have been complimentary to guest of the hotel, not just customers of the bar.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

short walk to shopping, bars, the subway. Great location. As a gay man, I was close to high end shopping, local shopping, the Village and the subway.

Dirty

There was a bobby pin on the floor of my bathroom for my stay. It was on the floor right next to the trash bin. I don't know how someone could have emptied the bin and not seen it. Clearly the floor wasn't properly cleaned after the last guest. After a guest leaves, the bathroom floor needs to be mopped thoroughly. The elevators were dirty, and one of the revolving doors in the lobby felt like it is going to break. I would have mentioned the cleanliness issue to staff, but not one person I interacted with while there asked me how my stay was going. And I was down there a few times as my room key kept on getting deactivated. I won't be back to Sutton Place until they buy a broom, a mop, and a bottle of Windex.

Mediocre hotel in downtown Toronto

Services, room, facility, all are totally mediocre - not great, but not bad. What we liked the most was the room with very comfortable beds, and what we liked the least were the old, slowest elevators. The gym was so small with very old equipments and the access to the gym/pool area was like a labyrinth. Also, we found out that what was said about the room on Orbitz was a big error - we booked three rooms including one with two king-size beds (for a higher price), only to find out that the hotel doesn't even have a room with two king-size beds (of course, no apology from the hotel for the mistake). One of our family members had to sleep in a pull-out couch for a week, which was unacceptable.

Tim Horton across the street! They are open 24 hours and were a great help whenever we needed a late night snack or a budget breakfast!

Needs A Little More

An average hotel close to excellent shopping facilities. The pool was unavailable due to being repaired; $25 per night for self-parking; and an extra charge for high speed Internet in the room.

Friendly staff, clean and classy hotel

We spent one night in a renovated King room, and found it to be just fine. We were on the 7th floor but noise wasn't too bad for a big city (I always bring earplugs). Despite some negative reviews I'd seen recently, our experience was good. Comfy bed, clean room, friendly check-in.
