Decent

Stayed on first floor with king bed. Was fairly quiet, clean, and comfortable. Nothing fancy. No refrig or micro in room, minimal contin breakfast. Nice location across from lakefront park, convenience stores, trolly stop. Easy access to downtown. Parking lot is a little walk to get to. Would return too again.

OK hotel

The rooms were small but cozy, the bed was very comfy, the bathroom was not super clean, but the rest of the room was fine. The location was good, not in the center of downtown, but right next to the streetcar which runs frequently and directly to downtown. There are shops and restaurants nearby. There was a basic free breakfast. Overall- it could be cleaner and more spiffy but not bad for the price, considering it was the weekend of the film festival which brought me to Toronto.

Perfect Location... Inexpensive Rooms

I was able to visit Lakeshore.. w/in walking distance. I also bike all over the city. Also came @ the perfect time, many holiday events/performances all around the city. The hotel was neat. The Manager could've been more friendly & also the cleaning staff could've made the bed daily w/fresh sheets, however overall the staff was fairly nice & some were very helpful. I also think this hotel should have video cameras placed right outside because I rented 2 bikes, locked them up @ the bike rack in front of the hotel, & by morning 1 was stolen along w/the lock. In comparison to other trips... this trip was adventurous & fun.

Small but tidy and effective

The service was good. The price was right. The rooms are very small. The parking situation leaves something to be desired. There is no actual Howard Johnson's parking lot. We ended up parking at a Hospital near by and spending $30 on parking from 4pm till 11am the next day. Overall we had a decent experience. For the price it seemed to be a decent value. We would have to find a better parking solution next time. The front desk will let you know.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you are looking to move about Toronto from this hotel buy a Transit pass from the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission), it cost us $11 CAN for the 2 of us and we traveled from our hotel to the Rogers Centre and back.

Basic no frills accommodation

The staff were helpful and friendly. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean but drab and in need of redecorating. The continental breakfast was more than adequate. Good view from room over Lake Ontario.

Howard Johnson

Parkdale is a nice location, but the specific location of the hotel is not. Parking is two blocks away and costs $12 per night. The hotel is right above a streetcar depot and the windows do not block noise. The streetcars in Toronto run 24/7. Additionally the hotel is across the street from a bar and practically above a McDonalds. If you're looking for convenience, it is convenient, but if you're looking for comfort, look elsewhere. The rooms are very small. Breakfast is juice, coffee and toast.

Noisy!

Streetcars were loud all night, couldn't sleep at all. Temperature control possibly busted, it was way too hot. All in all. I would not stay at this location again even if you paid me!

very small room, too far from center

The room is very small not the same in the photo. In the hotel web says free hot breakfast but there is only coffee and bread which are hot.The staff forgot to give facial tissue in the room and we asked for it at the reception but he told us to get it at his reception desk.( was it our fault? )
