Good small hotel

This is a small hotel with small, but comfortable rooms. It is located next door to the King Street subway station where there is a big food court and shops. Ask at the desk how to work the phone because some of the buttons do not work. Whenever I asked for help at the desk, I was treated courteously and efficiently. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Friendly, clean, comfortable

We booked two rooms at the Victoria for 3 nights while at a research conference downtown. Our first impression was the genuinely friendly and helpful staff at the desk, and this was the case throughout our stay. The rooms were surprisingly large and were very comfortable, although the bathrooms were quite small. We had a short 10-minute walk to our meetings and it was pleasant to return to a safe, comfortable place every night. We will definitely stay there again!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Marche restaurant across the street was tasty with lots of options as a choose-your-own-station Swiss-style setup.

comfortable but small, no views

Comfy bed, quiet, tiny 5th floor room with views of brick walls. Everything was clean and worked. Larger and more expensive rooms get the street view. Friendly staff. Fit my modest needs.

From a Torontonian

Since I was at a 2 day conference at the convention centre and went to the baseball on the first day, I chose this hotel because I did not want to fight the traffic in the morning and it was very economical for the location. I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff - from the front desk to the housekeepers. I would definitely come back here and recommend this.

Excellent location and service!

The hotel is in a central location. You can walk to the hotel from the Airport Express stop at the Royal York Hotel. Easy! Great food on the block-- bargains! Free Wi-Fi and totally dependable. I needed some printing done and all I needed to do is to send the document as an email attachment to the front desk email and the staff printed out my paper. No cost. Staff was very friendly. Only complaint: no room service of the hotel.

Good value

The lobby renovation makes it a bit uninviting though the crafts people are keeping it orderly. But the rooms are nice and a good value.

Ok For Sleeping

I stayed one night at the Hotel Victoria while on business in Toronto from the US. I checked in late around 12:30 in the morning and was really just there for the night to sleep. My room was on the 6th floor and the ice and beverage machines were in the basement and to my dismay the soda machine only took Canadian money which I had none of. Nothing was mentioned to me by the front desk about these nuances. Also my TV remote did not function. Wanted to extent my checkout to around 3 or 4 in the afternoon at which time I was informed that I would have to pay for a full night as with other hotels there is usually an option to pay for half a day. The location was good for my purpose of a business meeting right down the block but there are many other nicer hotels in downtown Toronto for a comparable price with better execution of simple amenities. One last thing, I did find the room to be a tad on the small side. If you just need a bed for the night this is well priced option but if are with others or will be staying a while or don't want to trudge your ice from the basement, don't stay at the Hotel Victoria.

quaint and comfortable small hotel

When I arrived, the desk manager was extremely welcoming and helpful. He fully explained the billing and hotel layout. My room was small, but extremely clean. There were no rough edges or worn out amenities. The bathroom was fully stocked with enough toletries and towels. I found everything in my room in perfect working order. The restruant off the lobby served a quality breakfast with a reasonable price. I would stay at this hotel again and I will recommend it to my friends who need an inexpensive, but nice hotel.

Excellent value

Very nicely appointed room. Equivalent to Hilton, Hyatt, etc. Superb value for the price I paid via Cheaptickets. Only 2 very minor negatives: (1) the only ice machine is in the basement, (2) there was very little shelf space in the (large) bathroom.
