Cheap, reasonable hotel

We stayed 3 nights on a budget and overall had a good experience. It's not the Ritz but it's in the middle of China town, has free parking, no roaches, and fairly comfortable beds.

Perfect low-cost accommodation

Whenever I travel to Toronto, I choose either the Grange or the Alexandra Apartment hotels. They are a block from one another and are both conveniently located in charming China Town and only a hop and a skip away from the famous Kensington market. The neighbourhood is charming, and the subway is only a short streetcar ride away. The accommodations are definitely on the spartan side, but that is what brings the costs down, which can be a real bonus. I find the 24 hour front desk staff are always genuinely cheerful and helpful. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Stay At This Hotel

When I decided to go to Toronto I needed a hotel with two things, a great price for a stay of multiple days, and a location of short travel to the convention center. The Grange has both of these things. I am completely happy with them. The staff was very helpful. One front desk clerk gave me good directions about town and didn't seem anoid at all that I had to interupt his break. The maid came in every day and did what they do, even cleaning the little kitchen area that you get in your room. And the maids don't bother you either, unlike other hotels I have been to where they knock on your door every morning and wake you up, Grange maids come when you are gone. The kitchen and bedroom were clean, and like another review I read says, there are no bedbugs. The toilet and bathroom sink were perfect, the shower a tiny bit less so, but everything was in order. My only criticisms are that the air conditioner is a little noisy and that if you want a coffee maker there is a $10 depotsit (which is funny because you automatically get a toaster.) But you might be able to get coffee in the office if you come at the right time. This is a great hotel though and I will probably stay again when I come back next year.

Grange Hotel

This is more of an inn. It is located in downtown, but about 15 minutes walk from the city center. The room is nice, old furniture but very clean. There is free WiFi on secured network, which is great for travelers on spontanious trip. There is no Baggage room. You need to check out at 11:00 am, so you can leave your luggage in the "office", which is the small room where you do the check in / check out. It is not locked in some room, just there near the reception (where there is always someone).

Decent Hotel (with no Bedbugs)

I stayed at the Grange for four nights while attending a professional conference in late February, 2011. My room was small, basic, and without any frills. But, for the price, I had a great stay. The hotel has a good central location for downtown Toronto (5 min. walk to Kensington Market, 25 min walk to Bloor St, and one block South of the Dundas streetcar line). It was also clean, quiet, and had a very quick check in/out process. It's not the Ritz, but if you're looking for an affordable place to sleep, I would recommend the Grange.

basic cheap hotel, room was clean,

basic cheap hotel, room was clean, reasonable sized, and well located. You get what you pay for. By no means is it luxury accommodation but if you want somewhere close to downtown and are on a budget it is fine. Compared to places like the waverly hotel the grange is a palace
