IF YOU SMOKE DO NOT STAY HERE

I've stayed here several times before. Also, at check in, I was given a room with someone already in there so told desk clerk and gave me another room. Also, I asked for a balcony so I can smoke out there but the door only opened 2 inches and could not get out to balcony. they screwed a board so balcony door cannot open. Good point, right downtown, so everything is close by.

hated my room!

I thought i was going to get a room on a high floor with a balcony, well we got a room with a balcony alright, but the doors to the balcony wouldn't open, they were locked, to top it off there was an open "gap" between the doors!!! meaning, it wouldn't close properly, could feel the wind coming in and we could sure hear all the noise! The room smelled musty and damp, there were human hairs on one of the pillows (which weren't ours) we didn't use it. We used our own, good thing we brought them. Had to hold down the flusher for the toilet to flush properly. TV was sooooooo small!!!

Never Again

Very small room with decor out of the 1970's, potato chips on the floor, Stained sheets and a bed spread that hadn't been washed. When we complained to the front desk we were not offered a diffrent room but rather transfered to 3 different locations before I finally hung up. Checked out a day early.

Not worth the hype

Was overall a bad stay. Very noisy room and small room and bathroom. The lobby was like a market place. Will ask anyone to stay here.

Never again

the experience was awful the room smelt like pee soooooo bad and the bathroom was even worse! 2 of the lightbulbs in the room didnt work. I lost power to my room in the morning while getting ready for work and it took them 15min to come fix the problem. To top it all off we got charged 31 dollars for parking! like i said i will never stay there again.

Noise Surprise

My husband and I had been eagerly looking forward to our trip to Toronto and our stay at the Delta Chelsea, so we were very disappointed to learn, after our first night at the hotel, that our room placed us right next to an early-morning construction site that made restful sleep virtually impossible. The wailing sirens outside our window didn't help matters at all, and neither did the tininess of the room, which we expected to be more spacious than it was. To make matters worse, the hotel didn't have Wi-fi, so we had to use our cell phone provider's international data plan to access the Internet to help us navigate travel around and outside the city, which ended up costing us additional money we hadn't expected. Because our room didn't have a fridge and microwave, we couldn't save the leftovers from the generous portions of food we were served (many of which were at a hefty price) at restaurants we patronized to eat later, which also cost us money on top of being wasteful. Overall, we were very disappointed with our hotel room and the amenities the hotel provided. My husband and I would definitely think twice before staying at another Delta Chelsea Hotel or recommending it to friends.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Unless you plan to do a LOT of traveling and exploring outside Toronto, I would not recommend including car rental in your travel package (i.e. I would only do airfare and hotel). Because of Toronto's superb subway and streetcar transit systems, a visitor can get to just about anywhere in the city at a minimal cost, especially relative to the costs that come with renting a car, which, for my husband's and my visit, included a $27/day parking cost for the car as well as a $31/day insurance for the car. Over our four-day stay, both of those expenses ended up costing us about $250 on top of our expected food and entertainment costs, which we would have happily (and gratefully) avoided, had we known about them when we planned our trip.

Bad experience

Workers went on strike half way through stay. All housekeeping services stopped (even if you requested clean water glasses - promised but never delivered), all restaurants were closed, no room service. And the worst aspect was from 6am to 10pm there were strikers marching around each entrance with banging buckets, whistles, and horns! Even on 15th floor it sounded like they were right outside my window! It was torturous!!

what a waste of time!

This hotel was on strike for the 2 nights we were there. That meant that we were unable to park without waiting up to an hour, we had no housekeeping, and there were a shortage of staff for the rest of our needs. The restaurants were closed except for a poorly staffed market, and there were huge line-ups at the check in/out counter. There was no compansation offered to us for this inconvenience, nor was there a complimentary breakfast to make up for the fire alarm going off continually through our second night. We will NOT stay here again.
