Two night stay in Toronto

Hotel room was quite dated and the air conditioning is so old and loud I had to turn it off to sleep! The breakfast buffet was cold and looked like it had been sitting there for a number of hours. I was up for breakfast at 7 so would have presumed it all would have been fresh at that time. The location is good but didn't feel entirely safe walking around that end of Yonge Street, a lot of homeless and beggers around and tacky flashing light type shops! Enjoyed my stay in toronto but overall wouldn't recommend this hotel to stay in.

In the heart of downtown

I found the location to be convenient to many things, e.g. subway station, mall, etc. Yonge St is a great location being near to most touristy things. However, the neighbourhood becomes slightly sketchy at night. You will be next to tattoo parlors, adult movie rental places, etc. There are however cheap places to grab food (McD, Pizza Pizza, Second Cup, Korean BBQ, Kenzo Ramen) The interior of the hotel is kind of old but everything works. It's like any other Courtyard Marriott in North America. They give you access to free WiFi which is great. Rooms don't have a safe but you can use the free safety deposit box in the front desk if you want to make sure your valuables (e.g. passport, spare credit card, etc) is kept in a safe place. In addition, the staff is really helpful in telling you directions to most places. I decided to rent a car so that I could go to places outside downtown Toronto. They have a valet service with in and out privileges. However be warned that like most of Toronto parking is expensive. They charge 30 CAD + HST (which comes to about 3.90) per night. Therefore if you do not plan to go out outside downtown, I would advice not having a car. You'll see that parking in downtown Toronto can be expensive ranging from $8-$15 per day which is the daily limit once you exceed about an hour or two.

Excellent Hotel and Location

Hotel is clean and modern with many amenities and main entrance is behind Yonge Street. The best is the hotel's location - its on Yonge Street only one block from subway (College stop); 24 hour McDonald, 24 hour drug/convenience store, in-hotel coffee shop/bar, coffee shop on corner. Hotel is convenient to many tourist sites via subway such as AGO, ROM, Union Station (Air Canada Center). Also the hop-on/hop-off tourist bus stop is a block and half away. Many fast food chains, local restaurants and bars in area. A 5 minute walk to Dundas Square (like NYC's Times Square). For single travelers, you feel welcome and not out of place. For GLBT travelers, its only a block to Church Street (Gay Village) with many bars, cafes and other venues. Only negative is they charge for WiFi.

Great Hotel to Be in the Center of Toronto

The hotel is near museums and attractions and most of the tourist things you would want to do. The room was clean and well maintained as were the common areas. The restaurant food was just okay--not really that great. I ate for dinner the first night and it was overpriced and not really that good. But the service at the front desk of the hotel was great--very helpful on what to do and how to get there. The only drawback is that the parking is expensive--$25 or $30 for valet. Otherwise, wonderful stay and I will stay there again!

So, so place to go.

Stayed 3 nights at the hotel; room was cleaned once. The furniture in the room looked like it had been wet because most of the furniture was warped. No easy access to the pool from the North Tower which turned out okay since the water in the pool was green. The best part of the hotel was the Fireside Grill. Excellent spot for food and drink.

Reasonably nice

Room was clean and nice, maid service daily, no problem with that. Some rooms in south tower face the air conditioner equipment which adds hum beyond the in-room unit, so ask the receptionist if that may give you trouble. Internet went out for several hours everywhere, so the terminals for airline check-ins were also not working until they fixed it later. Although just the fact that they have a few computers where you can print boarding pass for free is convenient. Their ATM didn't work with US debit card, and the reception would run out of currency exchange early in the day every day, so don't even bother. There's a RBC branch across the street with ATMs that do work and charge less for withdrawal. Same for "mini-mart" -- instead of that walk two blocks down the Younge to Shoppers Drug Mart - better snacks selection and cheaper.
