ANOTHER GOOD VISIT

This was my third stay at the hotel and the only thing missing was the magnificent view of Lake Superior and the Sleeping Giant due to inclement weather. I did not use the pool but will in the future. Ate a good meal in the dining room.

CLEAN, COMFORTABLE AND CONVENIENT

This is an older hotel but our stay was very comfortable. The room, with a queen size bed, was one of the largest and it was great being able to walk around without hitting furniture. They have an inhouse restaurant with fabulous weekend buffets and a Sunday brunch. Book ahead for a queen size bed because most rooms are two doubles.

A little hard to find

Finding the hotel was a struggle, partly due to no knowledge of Thunder Bay. We did run into a helpful security guard on the way in to town who pointed us in the right direction. Hotel is beautiful. Rooms are smaller than chain hotel. Resturant was good and in hotel. We would stay there again.

There is a cool shopping place near the bridge that raises and lowers, and it is also a lovely place to visit.

old, but decent

If you can get past the old hotel part its not to bad of a place. nice and friendly staff, and its reasonable for Canada prices. The pool is hardley used and its kinda deeper than most pools, and it was all mine both times. Pool is not to busy is what im saying. Its worth the stay, I would recomend it.

More than ok!

Very much an older hotel in need of updating, BUT, it's still nice and they are in the process of renovations. Great, friendly, helpful front desk staff, and if you get a room lakeside, that's even better (the view is great). The neighborhood does leave much to be desired, but it's ok. I wouldn't go out walking after dark though! Actually, we spent one night here, were heading out of town, had an accident and needed to stay in town for another week (long story!), and returned to see if they had rooms available so we're staying here much longer. Restaurant food is good, staff very friendly. Rooms only have window air conditioners, but I'd stay here again if needed. If you want a clean room without needing a lot of extras, stay here.

Not recommended

The service was fine but the room itself wasn't fantastic. The beds were uncomfortable, the room was too stuffy, and the shower kept randomly switching from ice cold to boiling hot. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

Its inside that counts

From the outside this hotel looks a bit old and worn, but don't be mistaken. Inside it is a clean, pleasant, historical establishment with friendly staff. Rooms facing Lake Superior have a fabulous view. The complimentary airport transfer was worth $30 too! Good value all round.

great view, good value for the money

The hotel is an old historic hotel that was re-done.The view of the Sleeping Giant on Lake Superior is the best reason to stay hear. The marina is right across the street with small shops and restaurants. We checked into a non-smoking room but it was rank with smoke. We were changed to a suite which we fully enjoyed. The restaurant had good service and the food good.Breakfast is not included but we enjoyed the more relaxing breakfast at the window overlooking the waterfront. The rooms were very clean but simple. The bed was very comfortable. We will stay again when in Thunder Bay.

Watch the sail boats come in at dusk while enjoying a drink or some homemade ice cream on the water front.
