Very much a "royal" visit!
Perfect location for us to enjoy Canada Day festivities, leave the car in the hotel parking and still make our flight at the end of the day with no hassles. It truly was a "royal" visit:). Staff were very helpful with directions, suggestions/info. Kids also got to enjoy a swim. Our second visit to Minto and we will be back again!

Beautiful suites
After a terrible experience at another hotel in Ottawa, we called the Minto at 10:am and the staff graciously agreed to let us check in early. The staff were really wonderful, the room was clean, comfortable and large. The bed was extremely comfortable. The pool was large but rather cold and the lanes were blocked off for laps. The hot tub temperature was too low, perhaps a concern re: bacteria proliferation. The hotel was close to everything and the staff was quite helpful whenever asked for directions or recommendations. Overall, we had a great time at the Minto - highly recommended.

Ottawa has so much to offer even in winter, with museums and skating, fine dining and great hotels.

Big Daddy
The good, the bad, & the impractical
Our girls were in a ringuette tournament and unfortunately this time we were not able to use the pool and fitness facilities as we have in the past. We checked in around 5 o'clock and found most of the adjoining restaurants and cafés closed. The Subway was just about to close but stayed open to serve some of our girls and parents. These adjoining businesses must only cater to the downtown business people. Very sad. I believe our association should look for accomodation closer to the arenas, and family restaurants next time.

great value for money
Attended a convention in Ottawa and decided to take my son and nanny. Opted not to stay at the convention hotel because I wanted a kitchenette and separate bedroom. Glad I did. Travelling with children, having a kitchen with fridge and stove is key. There's also a convenience store just beside the hotel to pick up some essentials. Great location to go to parliament hill and museums. Will definitely use minto suites again and will try them out at other cities too.

Long walk from hotel
Museum of Natural History (20 min walk). Aviation museum was super cool also, we had a dinner reception there though it was a 30 minutes drive to get there in traffic.

best of the lot of 4 hotels we stayed in
we stayed at four different hotels during our trip to canada - two were very good one was disappointing, but the minto was a pleasant surprise. Our room was hugh - we have stayed at the venetian and the palizzio in las vegas which had big elegant rooms. Our room was not as elegant as those in las vegas but it was larger and really execeded our expectation. A constructive comment for the hotel is that the hid-a-way sofa in room 616 has seen better days. It was not used to sleep in but the cushions were well worn and uncomfortabe to sit on. The two hugh tv were a big plus

if you get hungry late at night they have a Deli/grocery store with excellent sandwiches. Plus food from the grocery store that you can take to your room and cook or microwave.

Great hotel, horrible beds
The Minto Suite Hotel in Ottawa is pretty dang nice. The Fitness center and Pool were impressive and the service was good. The room we stayed in had a really nice layout, was clean, and came with a mini-kitchen. The ONLY issue we had with our stay was the bed. This thing was as solid as a rock. We contemplated using the pull-out bed in the sofa in our room, or just using the bigger pillows from the bed and sleeping on the floor/couch, it was that bad. Didn't get much sleep because of the but overall, not a bad hotel.

All around good family hotel
Very friendly and helpful concierge. Generally very clean. The kitchen was very well equipped - we even had our own little laundry room in the suite. Overall excellent value for money and I would recommend it for families.
