Awesome location!

No issues at all with this hotel, it was great! Location was excellent, near the market and close to Parliment stuff. We were going to Bluesfest, which was about a 30 minute beautiful walk away from the hotel. There are several parking options nearby, with different pricing depending on where you park. Watch out if you park in the street though, the parking people are quick to write a ticket, we didnt get one, I saw them giving tickets and the staff warned us which was nice

Excellent, Budget-Friendly Inn!

We just finished a six-night stay at Byward Blue and were very happy with our decision to stay at this hotel. We would stay there again and would strongly recommend it! It’s not super fancy, but it is clean and comfortable, and the price was so reasonable compared to the competition. I thought the numerous oil paintings by Bruce Walker throughout the hotel were a very nice touch. I think the cheap, Pergo-like floors and extremely poor lighting in the bathroom are what makes the rooms seem less luxurious, but again, they are clean and comfortable. If you want a hotel room with a kitchen to cook food, then this is not the place for you. Each room has a small microwave, mini fridge and a tiny kitchen sink. It was perfect for us, since we were simply storing water, wine, cheese and crackers in our room. I strongly recommend that if you are staying at the Byway Blue Inn during the warmer months, that you pay a little extra for a room with a balcony. It was such a lovely treat. We would spend our days sightseeing, and then we would come back to the room late afternoon to sip wine and enjoy cheese and crackers on the balcony before getting ready to go out for the evening. The view of the Peace Tower, Parliament Library and American Embassy from the balcony were gorgeous. The location of the Byward Blue Inn is absolutely perfect. You are about two blocks from the fantastic and busy Byward Market, yet the Inn is on a very quiet, residential block. You have some of the very best restaurants in the city located just two blocks from the Inn on Murray Street. Just one block away are many fun and great restaurants right on Clarence Street. We walked to so many sightseeing destinations directly from the hotel. It is in a great central location. When we wanted to go a bit further, we just hopped on a bus from the bus stop that is ½ block away. The hotel itself is a very friendly and quiet facility. The staff was fabulous and extremely helpful. We did not encounter a single employee who wasn’t affable. The breakfast was nice, but the same foods are served every day, so some mornings we stopped by the Byward Market Bakery or Benny’s Bistro and French Bakery on Murray Street for breakfast, instead. Dinner places in the area you shouldn’t miss are Navarro’s, Domus Café and the Murray Street Kitchen. All were amazing and just two blocks away. The Irish Village down the street on Clarence is fun and also has good food. We caught excellent, live music at the Village several nights, and they have a wonderful courtyard. The Byward Blue Inn offers a daily afternoon tea with cookies, crackers, cheese and fruit. They also have a lovely sauna room with a shower that you may use for one hour free during your stay. We feel like the Byward was a great find, and again, we strongly recommend it!

good value

2day stay for two adults. Comfortable and simple. Close to all sites in down town. Parking next door reasonabe and convenient. Clean and larger than expected with balcony ( ours was in back and quiet with view of neighbors gardens. Not a chain with all bells and whistles, but a pleasant beginning and end to the day. We would stay here again.

Charming small hotel; convenient walking to many attractions

Older hotel. Comfortable room. Liked the wood floor, balcony and kitchenette with small refrigerator and microwave. Location is in a quiet, residential section of Clarence Street but is only a block away from many pubs, diners and other shops. Twenty minute or less walk to Parliament Hill and National Gallery. Limited parking available at the hotel, but public garage 1/2 block west with reasonable rate ($8.00/day). Window A.C. was barely adequate for the temperatures in July, but balcony door allowed fresh air which was nice. Enjoyed our stay.

Many pubs in the blocks to north-east of the hotel. We enjoyed Peter Devine pub and Cornerstone B&G.

Very Nice Place

This hotel reminded us of some of the nicer Pensions we stayed in France and Italy. Staff is kind, friendly and very helpful. The location is half a block from the restaurants, bars, and shops of By Ward Market, and just a 15 minute walk to the National Art Gallery, the National Art Center, the canal. We parked in the City Garage next door, and never had to use the car for three days. We suggest you ask for a room on the 5th floor, in the rear. There you will have shade in the morning on your balcony, to drink your coffee and check your iPad.

Go to the Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, just across the Bridge from the National Gallery. It is a beautiful walk there, and a fantastic museum. Especially see the Hall of Canada.

great location

We arrived at 3 PM and were told to return at 4 PM which we did. We checked in and the room they gave us had not been cleaned and the bed was not made. We were told there were no other rooms and that they would send up the housekeeper right away. We waited an hour and no one showed up. We went back to the front desk and were assigned another room. It was a very disappointing beginning to our week end but everything was OK from then on.
