Wonderful experience
My stay in Lord Nelson was amazing experience. It is perfectly located in the heart of the city. I didn't need to use public transportation most of the time. within walking distance you can find almost all what you need of shopping, resturants, and all other type of entertainment. The staff are welcomning and friendly.

Four-day trip to visit family
The hotel is at an excellent location, just one/two blocks from a number of 24-hour establishments (which is a really big deal in Halifax). Basically on their equivalent of Fifth Avenue in NY in terms of shopping, banks and restaurants.

Great Hotel - Wifi in Lobby, Not the room
We enjoyed the hotel, but had a problem with the first room. Once we spoke to the Front Desk, they quickly moved us to another room. Good job! However, we were not able to get the wifi to work in our room. It did work in the lobby, but...

Great place to stay in Halifax
The Lord Nelson is a great place to stay in Halifax because it is within walking distance of everything downtown and by the waterfront. The building is uplifted and well appointed with old world charm. The Victory Arms restaurant/bar was a comfortable place to gather with good, affordable food. Overall a great value for what feels like a more expensive stay.

Great Location Great Hotel
The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of a Ritz in the US. Its on the corner of the biggest shopping district in Halifax and across the street from the Public gardens that was created by the same man who created Central Park in NYC. It is just a short walk away from many historic sites such as the Citadel as well as the beautiful harbor. Check in and check out was easy and the room was immaculate. I highly suggest this hotel.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
Argyle street, which is where most of the restaurants are located is about 3/4 of a mile. It is a downhill walk there but the uphill walk back is a little much. If you have small children jump in a cab (it will be less than $5).

Location, location, location!
Very friendly, helpful staff. The plane was late and we didn't arrive until 1:30 a.m. The suite was spacious, clean, welcoming and the pillow top beds were so comfortable. This is an old fashioned hotel with mahoghany and brass and thick carpets. Very conveniently located for walking everywhere. Local ground transportation top notch.

Loved this hotel!
This is an elegant older hotel that has been completely renovated, combining charm, luxury and total comfort. It faces the magnificent must-see Public Gardens, is a few blocks from the Waterfront, and even closer to the Citadel. It is off Spring Gardens Road which has shops and restaurants, as well as a city bus going down to the Waterfront. We were able to park in a metered spot right across the street, which became free for the entire week-end at 6 p.m. Friday, thus avoiding the $20 a night parking fee at the garage adjacent to the hotel. Leave car parked- everything is walking distance (though the walk back from waterfront is steep). The [...] price for this hotel was an amazing value, both in comparison to the other upscale hotels in Halifax and in comparison to a comparable hotel in most other cities. (We did not check out the restaurants in the hotel, so I gave this a neutral rating).

Park across from hotel on the side of the Public Gardens. Meters become free at 6 p.m. Friday evening for entire week-end. Hotel parking is expensive.
