Hometel on Signal Hill

When I checked in I asked if there would be front desk service for an early check out,and was told that there was someone at the desk 24 hours a day. When I went to checkout I found the door locked,with a note stuck on the door to call this number if you needed assistance . A phone was in a box on the side of the building.I called the number expecting to be told that he/she was in another room & would be right there. NOT SO. I was asked to wait for his return form his home from across town.I could not believe that the same employee that told me there was 24 hour service was the same person that went home & I had to wait outside for him to return to the hotelWhen I asked why i was told that there would be someone there & there wasn't I was told that the person who was to work that night was sick,so he had no choice to do what he did. Strange thing that he was able to get a phone installed on the building but could not work the shift himself,I told him that when i work I have to go to my place of work .I can not go home & expect people to call & then wait for me to show up. I have worked in a hotel, I have also worked night shift .I do not think my employer would like it if I went home & stuck a note on the door. I am not 100% sure but I do believe that by law (fire regulations) there should be someone on site 24 hours a day.I do not know what would have happened if there was a real emergency ! Will NOT STAY AGAIN.
