great little hotel

I stayed only one night, but room was spotlessly clean (I checked), and every room has different look, with great old-style furniture. Bad thing is that there is no staff on site, so if you want to check in/out early or late, you have to call them to come. But, overall, I would stay here again. It's a great location, clean and nice hotel for good price.

Birthday surprise

Abba Inn check in was effortless even though we arrived at midnight. Nice room and great location for walking access to downtown. Though the Inn was quiet inside, street noise (cars) was heard 24/7. Overall, the Inn was a good value.

A Good Find for a Decent Price

We had trouble finding a hotel even though we booked months in advance of the George Street Festival. The B&B was clean and confortable and a short walk to downtown. The only things we did not like was breakfast was at a set time (8-9am) and there were many flights of stairs to get to our room. Also, check in is not until 4pm. However, we paid an extra fee for a check in at noon. Overall, a good find for a comfortable stay in St John's.

Go to the Celtic Hearth for lunch or dinner. Delicious! We were not expecting that for a pub but they have many homemade delicious dishes and the beer is tasty!

Really convenient location

I was traveling solo & enjoyed the large room with comfortable chairs & generous lighting. My room faced on to the street & so a lot of traffic noise came in the open window. A B&B in the centre of the city was great. Parking permits were available for stays longer than one night if you let them know it was necessary. A computer is available for guest use as well as the Wi-fi network. Handy.

This review is for The Butternut Inn

I was originally booked at the Abba Inn but the owner upgraded me to a room at the Butternut Inn in order to accomodate some special needs at no additional cost. The owner, [...], came down to breakfast every morning and greeted the guest and introduced them to each other. The staff, [...] and [...], were very friendly and professional. Before arriving, the owner e-mailed a list of attractions, restaurants, taxis, car rentals, nightlife, etc. Breakfast consisted of eggs to order, a breakfast meat of the day (ham, bacon, sausage, fish cakes), potatoes, toast, fruit, yogurt, dry ceral assortment, juice, milk, tea, coffee. Cable TV, free off-street parking. Maps and more tourist info provided in Living room. I would highly recommend staying here. Many guest that I met were repeat customers.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Short Walk to most major attractions, restaurants, nightlife. If you don't want to walk, taxi is about $6 CA from downtown. Note: I had the smallest room that they offer and was very comfortable. This is a B&B, therefore, they only serve breakfast, but I was allowed to use the kitchen to heat up take-out food for lunch & dinner. Dorm refrigerator in room to store drinks and take-out food. Many dining options within short walk.

Cute place

Im not the type of person to really care about where I am staying because I barely spend time in the hotel/inn anyways. I came online to find a cheap place in a good location and Abba Inn was the best price so I went ahead and booked. I wasn't expecting a whole lot because of the deal I found but I was very impressed. It a beautiful, cozy victorian styled house. Our room was really nice, canopy bed, pull out couch and very clean. I was really surprised to see they had extras that hotels usually dont. like lotions, q-tips, baby powder, etc. The only negative I can think of, is the tiny bathroom, but that still didnt bother me. I would definitely stay there again.
