perfect location

Can't get any better than this. Yes the parking is a block and 1/2 away but you don't need it as you can walk all over. Different set up of room was nice change from all the other hotels. Deluxe on the 4th is great 2 very comfortable queens. Cool old fashioned bathroom with the deepest tub I have every seen. Even had an air conditioner. Coffe place in the lobby, Murchies and Munroes books right next door and the mall with The Bay across the street. Will definitely be back. Bonus it was cheaper than some of the other hotels that weren't as close to downton.

Good Price and Location

It's a hotel that's in a great location, perhaps the best in Victoria. It was a fine place to stay and I'd have no problems going back for a while longer.

Nice location, but not nice hotel

Definitely a one star at best. Old hotel with worn down appearance but fresh paint in room. Our room was on the street and it was noisy even with the with windows closed until about 3 AM. There was fuzz / dirt hanging from the ceiling and bathroom faucet was falling apart (even with all of the coats of paint trying to hold it together). Shower was a small trickle not a shower.... Great location downtown, and Victoria is a great place but I would not recommend this hotel.

Noisy Saturday Night

The Bedford was well situated in downtown Victoria. It is conveniently located about four blocks from the Harbour. We didn't bring our car, so this made it easy for us to access all the shopping and other activities Victoria offers. Our room was smaller than the typical hotel room found in the USA, but adequate for my husband and I. It was very clean. The two windows did not open, there was not a fire extinguisher in the room, and there weren't any sprinklers. The elevator was not working while we were there, but we stayed on the second floor and did not mind taking the stairs. Our biggest complaint was the music from a neighboring club that kept us up until 3 am on Saturday night. The thin walls allowed us to hear a neighbor phone the front desk and determine that the music would continue until 4 am. We fell asleep around 3, so we're not sure how long the music actually continued. The staff was friendly and allowed us to check our bags after we checked out so we did not have to bring them with us while we waited for our ferry.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The Empress Hotel, Parliament, BC museum, farmers market, and restaurants are all within a few blocks of the hotel. The location of the Bedford is quite convenient. It is also easy to obtain bus fare to the Butchart Gardens.

Great for those on a budget

The Bedford Regency was very quaint. The room was small but the bed was very comfortable. It's not a new hotel but it was clean. Small bathroom but again clean and for the price it was very decent. The location was great -- downtown Victoria on Government Street so very central to great restaurants (so no problem that the hotel did not have its own restaurant).
