Clean, upscale, and great location

Hotel is in a great location one block away from Robson Street. There are many cafes as well as many places to eat and shop. The hotel room is very clean and lobby is immalculate. Staff can be overly friendly bordering on being ingratiating ~ take it as that. The people frequenting the hotel appear to be older with money. I felt a little under dressed with my jeans in the lobby ~ probably because I am American. The chocolate buffet is to die for. It is a must try and experience for the chocoholic for $27CAD. The one thing I did not like was the $30CAD a day for parking, even for self-park. But, you stay at an upscale place there are costs.

4 great days

the hotel is clean and nice and the staff is very helpful. It is in a GREAT location, you can walk to a lot of places and the trolley stops are conveniently located. Food is very expensive at the hotel.. As it is all over Vancouver...so it is nice to be located in an area that has other restaurants also a grocery store in less then a block. Complaint: I was told at check- in that Internet would be free; then was charged at check out . Was told that you have to pay for Internet services when booking through Orbitz.....thought this was a big rip off. All in all a great value.

Too short a stay.

Stayed over in VC after Alaskan cruise. Large room, very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Told friends we traveled with the scale in bathroom was for luggage weight , not any weight we gained on our trip. We ate at cafe across from hotel, so can' comment on food. Wish they had their own shuttle to airport, had to wait for taxi to accommodate four people and luggage, making customs at airport tight.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Took a tour of Vancouver departing cruise ship. Drove thru Stanley Park, very nice, stopped a couple of times, saw the suspension bridge but feel didn't get a good value. Did go back to the aquarium later. lack of taxis to return to hotel, had to search and wait.

Great 4-night stay

Sutton Place is in an excellent downtown location, within easy walking distance of Robson Street's shopping, Gastown and dozens of restaurants. The entire the staff was wonderful, and we received great service from Christoper at the Concierge's desk. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We were disappointed that the swimming pool was a small indoor pool, and full of small children. But overall, the hotel is a good value since we found that everything in Vancouver is over-priced.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

One of the most enjoyable things we did was to rent bicycles and rode them through Stanley Park, stopping at the aquarium. The aquarium was a good value and had a fun 4-D movie, and a number of animal talks throughout the day.

Comfy if starchy

Got a great deal on the Sutton Place, paying far less than it seems to command. The concierge was helpful, the facilities comfortable and classy, and an ideal location in downtown Vancouver. It was clean and a great deal for the money. The Jacuzzi was a nice break after walking the city. Doesn't have a family-friendly vibe to it, though. Definitely a business traveler hotel more than a tourist haven. Which isn't always a bad thing. My only quibble was the habit of nickel and diming patrons. Services such as business center usage and local phone calls that are complimentary in Hampton Inn and whatnot were charged here. Seemed a bit declassé a practice for such a lofty place.

Good hotel but a little pricey

This hotel is in a very good location. It is very clean and the bed are very comfortable. The staff is very helpful. The restaurant is very, very pricey but there are small cafe and restaurants near by.

Great hotel in a great location

We spent two nights at the hotel. On our first day, we walked around town and on the second day we took a 5 hour tour of the city. We ate all our meals at the hotel because the food was fabulous. Many hotels have a gorgeous dining room and low quality of food. The Sutton has it all: beauty, bounty and tasty!

Great location, hospitality

This was an excellent place for 4-day anniversary weekend. Great location in the heart of downtown Vancouver...easy to get to others parts of town from here, like a brief walk and water taxi to Granville Island; walk to Coal Harbor & Stanley Park; plenty of shopping just around the corner. Excellent housekeeping & concierge service. The mattress could have been better, but it wasn't too bad. That and the traditional "Chippendale" decor were my only complaints.
