Nice hotel on Robson

First Time Mom Oct 20, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We went for one overnight stay for a quick mini-vacation and found the hotel very nice. It's a little pricey but it was ... clean. The restaurant O'Doul's was also very nice. Had to send back my steak because it was medium instead of medium-rare, but my husband's scallops were perfect. We would stay there again. Added bonus: wi-fi and phone calls to the US are included! (because it's an added tax, but still).

Dining tip, Short Walk

Across the street is a sushi place called Miko, that has good, straight-up authentic japanese sushi. This place doesn't have a lot of the frou-frou fancy fusion rolls with special sauces. It's just the basics, but they are delicious. They can make a dragon roll or rainbow roll, but it's not on the menu. Good for the price. A favorite of hockey players, local and visiting.

At this hotel, the toiletries are out of dispensers, which is how all hotels should handle shampoos, soaps, and lotions. ... This cuts down on the trash from the plastic bottles and waste. I love that there's a bin for recyclables in each room. The decor is very nice and contemporary. There is a lot thought-provoking art all around. I would recommend this hotel to stay at.

Mostly good, but...

B Sep 1, 2009

The hotel was right on Robson Street, which had tons of restaurant options. Overall the hotel was nice, quiet, and clean. ... Unfortunately, our key cards rarely worked in either the elevator or our room's door, meaning we often had to swipe it 10 times before it would work. Other people had similar problems. No adequate solution was provided. Very frustrating, and for that reason, probaby wouldn't go back.

Great Hotel in Downtown Vancouver

Young Traveler Aug 12, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

A great hotel for any traveler type. Located almost directly in the center of downtown, it is surrounded by restaurants and ... shopping. Equally distant from Stanley Park, the waterfront and the Gaslight neighborhood, my wife and I walked to all. Only a short drive over the Granville Bridge will take you to the market. The hotel's interior appeared clean and museum-like, without appearing sterile. The customer service is first-class, even after making difficult requests. My wife and I stayed in a premium room, with window seat, large plasma TV and king size bed. Smaller bathroom with the sink outside of it, and my only complaint is that I am used to a softer mattress, while the Listel had more obviously spring mattresses. Still very comfortable. Also has AC which was great for the local weather at the time!

Shopping tip, Short Drive

We went to the Night Market in Chinatown, which was great. Lots of unique food, items and good prices. They also had karaoke which was interesting. I drank juice from a coconut.

Money savers tip

Get the bus that goes around the city for 2 days. Approximately 20 stops with off and on privileges. Stanley park is very interesting.

Dining tip, Long Walk

If you don't mind covering a little distance on foot, there are dozens of incredible restaurants within walking distance (especially on Denman St.), and this is a city known for its fine food. A quick cab ride will get you around too, but it's worth the walk to experience the area a little more personally.

Money savers tip, Short Walk

By walking 3 blocks to a 7-11 store, we were able to purchase a Day Pass for the transit system for $9. They are good for buses, sky train, and sea bus and are very easy to use. EVERYONE is so polite in this city - they offer help if they think you need it!!

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

Definitely go to the park to the north... great walk and worth the trip.

Time savers tip

Get a good map of the attractions and restaurants in the area....perhaps thru Chamber of Commerce. Literature was scarce in room

Dining tip, Short Walk

Lots of places to eat and drink within a very short walk, like even across the street!

Shopping tip, Short Walk

Robson gets all the attention but head to Denman or even Davie streets. Both are a moderate walk from the hotel and offer equally interesting shopping and dining options.

--Gregory, Grand Junction Nov 30, 2008

Dining tip, Short Walk

There was a bar/restaurant in the hotel and plenty of choices nearby.

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

Plan to spend a few days exploring Stanley Park if you are into hiking and walking the seawall. Watch the dolphin show at the aquarium. Don't bother with Canada Place.
