Sandman Hotel Vancouver City Centre

Pros: The Sandman located in Vancouver was quite comfortable, although by American standards the room was somewhat smaller than what you will typically find in the states. The hotel and dining staff were outstanding, the food was quite good, and the atmosphere in the hotel was very pleasant. It is also located very near to Vancouver's principal attractions (Gastown and Chinatown), as well as being just a few minutes by taxi to the cruise ship terminals (there are two of them and they're about a half-mile apart, so make sure you know where your ship is mooring at). Cons: The hotel location was not the greatest, for it appeared to be right on the border line between the better parts of Vancouver and the not-so-safe area of the city. However, the easiest way to avoid these areas is to walk a couple of blocks northeast before turning north towards Gastown (in other words, don't walk north up Beatty or Cambie towards Gastown, but rather go NE on West Georgia before turning north/right on Hamilton or Homer). To avoid getting lost, I also highly recommend taking a street map of the city with you, which is available at the hotel lobby desk. The only really con about the hotel itself is that the elevators are small and they're very slow, so patience is a must when travelling between floors! Overall, I'd highly recommend the Sandman, given the reasonable price and its very helpful, courteous, and professional hotel and dining staff.

The Sandman Hotel on Georgia was comfortable. The room we were assigned was extremely small and the hallways could use some updating. The elevators were extremely slow. The bed was quite comfortable and the bathroom while quite small was very clean. There was inadequate drawer space. The location was extremely good, as it is located one block from Robson Street. It was in close proximity to shopping and restaurants. The food in the restaurant on-site was excellent.

The Sandman Hotel Downtown Vancouver, is fine and well located, I think the price is a little bit high for this type of Hotel and the room was very little.

The Sandman Hotel Downtown Vancouver is a decent hotel, conveniently located, and with a friendly, helpful staff. The room carpet had a small 1 square piece tufted, but didn't bother me - the rest of the room was good. Free Internet access (ask the front desk)!! Close to the Robson Library Square, where there's the public library and coffee shops/eateries. I just wish Vancouver were less expensive :-(

Sandman staff was excellent but room a/c was very loud. Location was okay but the area looked a little sketchy.

This Hotel was comfortable and quite, rooms were on the small side but well kept, my only mayor inconvenience was the elevators which are slow and busy, besides that everything was awesome.

This hotel had great amenities, and although the room was not huge, it was well laid-out and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. i especially liked the free hi-speed internet access. the location was excellent, within walking disance of almost everything.

This was my first experience with the Sandman Hotels and the staff was very accomodating and friendly! I went to check in and had only paid for one double bed and they upgraded us for free to a room with a kitchenette and a living area with a fold out couch. It so nice to be able to hang out in the living area without feeling cramped into a little hotel room! The main restaurant, Moxie's is not as it seems. The staff were very friendly and punctual, but the food provided little to redeem its cost. The food was not bad, just mediocre for the price they were asking. I understand that Vancouver is not a cheap place, but we had some really good ethnic foods around for much less. The location of the hotel is excellent! It is just a few blocks away from the famous Robson street and just across the street is the stadium for the BC football team. The bars are very close too! I am really glad we chose this hotel and the next time I stay there I will most likely stay at the Sandman.
