"Awesome location downtown"
Great location to see the city, close to all amenities, sporting events etc..Hotel was very clean, room was average size but just there to sleep and get cleaned up so served its purpose. Great restaurant and bar located in the hotel. Price you pay for what you get was excellent. Only complaint was bathroom very small in my room.

Not so happy
I was attending a wedding so i decided instead of drinking and cabing it home to spend the night at sandman. i've stayed at other Sandman locations and have nothing but good things to say except this location. Upon my arrival everything was great and fast, the room was not so great it was on 11th floor (1114)but since i wasnt staying more than one night i wasn't being too picky. after the wedding i came back to my room for a quick nap before heading to reception, i noticed the door was jammed and the knob was broken (it wasnt when i checked in) my neighbour next door had his door wide open and was lounging in his room in his boxers (uncomfortable with the sight) i knocked on his door and asked if he could call downstairs for me but he decided to help out instead we opend my door and i called downstairs they quickly changed my room and the front desk girl came up with new set of keys to my new room. i was impressed. onto to the next room. after my nap i used the bathroom before i left....well the toilet would not flush so i hd to stick my had in to flush it manually. Not impressed but i was running late and had to leave. the room was right by the elevator and it was loud. VERY loud all night. at that point i wish i had just cabbed it home rather than staying there. the rooms are extremely small and outdated.Beds are extremely uncomfortable....2 days later my neck and back is still soar. Upon check out they did comp my parking. Th staff is very professional and nice but i would NEVER stay there again even if it's a one night stay. nor would i recomand it to anyone.

Canucks Mayhem
I would say nearly half of the hotel went to the game and less than half were drunk in the halls after the game. But other than that A good place to stay

Solid Place to Relax Downtown
I visited Vancouver for about 4 days for an Animation & Story Master Class presented through Van Arts. The Sandman was directly in the city-center, and made it easy for me to get to any location on foot, whether it was Coal Harbor, Stanley Park, or Gastown. The room accommodations were comfortable and very well maintained. It was one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. My luggage was lost on the way to Vancouver, and the hotel staff worked with the airline to ensure my luggage was promptly returned to me. It was a very stress-free experience. There are tons and tons of food options around town, but if you are looking for small grocery-like items there is a 7-11 right around the corner and larger establishments towards the suburbs. The only down (and small) part of my trip was finding an ATM that accepted more than Interac Cards. There are some in the business centers throughout the city (The Harbor Centre on Hastings has one in its food court area). I'd recommend bringing some cash/traveler's checks as a backup. Just in case you can't get to an ATM in a timely fashion.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
You are a short walk away from many of the major attractions in the downtown area. Coal Harbor is only a couple blocks north of the hotel, and many of the sports venues are just east of the hotel. Walking to Stanley Park isn't too bad of a walk either, and its an enjoyable place to relax and soak up nature.

The best pillows I have ever slept
The best pillows I have ever slept on in my life! Location OK, but its what I expected. Room very clean, plenty of choices for food in area and felt safe walking around at night, only downside would be the elevators are very slow.

Puts the mean and nasty back into
Puts the mean and nasty back into accommodation. The staff are very rude and uncaring and the rooms are tiny (we payed for a deluxe and had to negotiate to get around). All facilities are charged for (which they don't state), rooms are dirty and the towels were various shades of grey. This hotel is striving for a one star rating and lack the ethics to be a recognised accommodation provider, avoid at all costs.
