Perfect location, simple amenities
Urban traveler Oct 16, 2009
The hotel was perfectly situated within easy walking distance of the West End, Yaletown and downtown. The hotel is ... attractive, but has few amenities. The rooms--particularly the bathrooms--are small. The hotel was being renovated while we were there, which caused a lot of noise, particularly in the afternoon. For a place to crash though while exploring all of Vancouver's amazing downtown neighborhoods, it can't be beat. One thing in particular that was vexing was the parking situation. I wish it would have been explained on the hotel's Web site, and it's important to know in advance, since street parking is quite limited in this busy area of retail and restaurants. Parking is available in a nearby residential high rise, however, guests should NOT pay in the parking garage but at the hotel front desk instead.

The staff was very helpful. I stayed 2 different weekends at this hotel. On the second weekend, they put me in a room on ... the second floor. Didn't realize that it could get a little noisy with street noise (had a heavy metal concert happening across the street at the Orpheum). They ended up upgrading me to a King room on the 4th floor.

If you're into ethnic food, there's heaps of good food in a short distance from the hotel. There's a good (and cheap) Vietnamese sub and noodle shop (on Seymour & Robson), Korean/Japanese/Chinese grocery/food court, and a Shawarma place on Robson.

Hip Hotel in bustling downtown
smalldog Sep 21, 2009
Great hotel, and view from front room to the street below was great. However, hotel is at a corner of a busy intersection, ... and bus stop. There is constant noise from the roar of diesel engines from buses pulling away. I like it quiet when trying to sleep, so the next day I was fortunate enough to switch to another room on the back side of the hotel. Sure, the view of the alley wasn't the best, but at least it was nice and quiet.

Walk to Vanc. Art Gallery and Robson St.
Seattle traveler May 13, 2009
Stayed here so we could walk to see "Dutch Art Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum" at Vancouver Art Gallery, located a few ... blocks away. Also had many choices within walking distance for eating at variety of restaurants, and shopping at numerous stores on Robson St. and in the vicinity. Hotel staff was very helpful with check-in. Hotel accomodations were satisfactory for our short stay, but bathroom sink without counter space was inconvenient, and location on busy street was noisy. When the planned air conditioning is installed (soon?), then windows would not need to be opened for air circulation--this could cut down on the noise. Hotel parking for a $15 additional fee at a nearby public lot was unsecured (without locked garage door). We were warned about possibility of theft--robbers chose 2 other cars near ours to break into; not sure why we were spared but we were thankful for not being victimized.

A beautiful place in Vancouver...
PNW Traveler May 8, 2009
The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are fantastic. There wasn't much the staff could do about the drunk truck-driving ... idiot who ran a red light at 3:30am and took out a VW Jetta in the intersection...right below my window! The drunk was escorted to jail...but the sirens and blaring horns were not very restful. Again, this was completely out of the staff's control. The hotel is sparkling and the refinished original floors make for a cool look. Covered parking (for a price) is just a short walk away...although you are instructed to remove all items from your car. I had zero problems here.

Justin Oct 20, 2008
Located near the end of Robson, this cute modern hotel is in a great location with easy access to shopping, restaurants, & ... bars. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was quiet, the furnishings and decorations moderns and basic. The bed was a little hard, but surprisingly comfortable. Parking was very close in a parking garage for only C$11/day.

Michelle Sep 30, 2008
It was my first time in Vancouver and I was by myself. The hotel itself was very nice but the only problem I had with it was ... that there was no room service. There were days I didnt want to go out to look for food, although not hard to find there were just some times that I wanted breakfast in bed. Its location to Granville St was great, only a block away. The staff was very friendly as well.

Very nice modern decor but room too small
Ingrid Aug 24, 2008
The hotel is very modern and at a good location. Easy to get cabs outside the door. 2 or 3 blocks to the nearest eating ... place, which turned out excellent. The biggest turn off was the size of the room. Much to small with no place to sit unless you sat on your beds. The beds were excellent and the bathroom was nice and plenty big enough.

Noisy & uncomfortable
Catherine Aug 22, 2008
The first problem we had was there was no parking in front of the hotel. We circled the block, found a parking meter the ... next street over, and walked back to the hotel. After checkin we were told the parking was down the block and across the street. With all of our luggage in tow we hiked back to the hotel and up to our room. It was stifling hot because the hotel didn't have any air conditioning and it was 95 degrees outside. We had to sleep with the window open to try to get some relief from the heat. As a result, the food smells from the exhaust fans of the restaurant/bar down below filled the room. We were also serenaded by birds, construction noise, trash cans, and drunk patrons. We didn't get much sleep at all. The room itself was clean and the staff was pleasant. The bathroom was large and clean. If the hotel were to install air conditioning and noise proof windows it wouldn't be a bad place to stay but it still would only be a 1-2 star stay
