The good the bad and the ugly

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to shopping and tourist attractions. Staff are polite and the service by the staff is very good. Rooms are clean. The pool is a small outdoor one and in a poor location. Beware of the $50 per day that they charge your credit card. We were not informed it was per day and on check in we were told there would be a fifty dollar charge for incidentals. Then the next day we noticed another $300 taken for "incidentals". This $350 could be a lot of money for those with children etc. They also told us that it would take 3-5 business days to have the hold removed and that it was the banks that took the time. A check with the bank and I was told that in fact in these days these are removed the same day, ie like returning an item from a store. This charge left a sour taste for the Hyatt in our mouths. We are planning to visit for the Olympics and would not be returning to the Hyatt. Because of not being told of this charge we did not dine in the hotel or have drinks in the bar or use the bar in the room. We did not even drink the tea or coffee provided. We spent over $1600.00 in the Vancouver area, none of which was at the Hyatt.

Hyatt Adventure

Outstanding location and central to everything we wanted to do. Some issues with being put up in a "hospitality room" with a wafer thin sofa bed with rails in your back the first night that was challenging. But moved to a regular room the rest of the week which was as expected - a nice room. Thought we would have been compensated a little bit but the staff was great.

Great location in the middle of it all!

We normally stay with family when traveling to Vancouver, so this was a real treat. We got a great air and hotel package, and the room was just wonderful. Recently redone in gray and green and red, and really restful. Gorgeous bathrooms with the best hotel shower ever. Easy self parking. The restaurant on the 2nd floor is worth it for breakfast. The views to the trees and buildings is gorgeous, and the staff very attentive. Great food. The little Latte Cafe is good as well. Nice gym and pool/spa area. Not huge, but very well maintained and worth going. We will stay here again because of the hotel, but also because of the incredible location with the proximity to Stanley Park, Robson shopping and the museum.

Great location, great price!

We arrived from a long trip to Vancouver and the staff was wonderful. Our luggage made it up to our room quickly. The hotel bar and lobby lounge were fantastic. Only stayed the night before our cruise but the room was perfect - very comfortable bed. Beautiful view of the water and downtown. All and all very happy with the hotel and would stay again.

The hotel was great and was right in the middle of town and easy to find. My wife made the comment that the Hotel restaurant should have a bigger menu.

There are factory outlets that if driving take about 20-30 mins to get too. One of them is a Chinese type arcade type of shopping area with a large building with small shops inside. Good prices. There is another factory outlet with the brand name outlets.

Great Location

Our first time to Vancouver and we wanted to see all we could in a short time. The staff worked with us to get that accomplished. Lots of things to see, do and good eats within walking distance and in hotel. Tours redily available, booked within the hotel. Beautiful scenery all around.

It takes a little while to walk to Stanly Park. Ride the bus down and see all you want then take a leisurely stroll back along the sea wall. Good selection of restaurants all within walking distance.

Nice & quiet

The Hyatt Regency is in a great location a short walk from the new airport metro line. The hotel is very clean and quiet, and we had wonderful views of Coal Harbour, Burrard Inlet, and Stanley Park from our 26th floor room. The room was clean and comfortable, with a very handsome Asian/minimalist look. It was a fine home base for our walks around the West End, Yaletown, and Gastown and quick bus rides to Granville Island and Stanley Park. We were hoping to try room service, but the prices were ridiculous, particularly for breakfast. We also had repeated problems with our room keys not working longer than 2 days, but they were replaced cheerfully by the staff. Our stay was very pleasant, and we would recommend the Hyatt to others.

Make sure to visit one of the Japadog (www.japadog.com) stands that are only a couple of blocks away: either the Burrard and Smithe one or the Burrard and Pender one. Both the turkey terimayo (beloved of Ice Cube!) and kurobota oroshi were fantastic.
