Better than expected
The hotel was rated as 3 stars, but seemed more like 4. The room was well apportioned and the bed was most comfortable. The location was near the Skytrain and shopping, plus convenient to Simon Fraser University, where my son's soccer team was playing.

Average hotel near the SkyTrain
The hotel is located near several resturants and across the street from the SkyTrain. The staff is polite and helpful, the hotel resturant very good, but beyond that if you were looking for a stay at a hotel that felt new and comfortable, this isn't it. The room decor is dated, the carpet was worn (to the point where the carpet tacks between the room and bathroom came up through the carpet. Tile in the room was chipped, grout yellowed with age. To get in and close the door in the bathroom required standing between the sink and the toilet in a 8 inch space as the door swung all the way to the toilet itself. In a standard room with a foldout couch, only one TV existed - in the bedroom. This prevented any practical use of the couch and that entire area. The TV reception was fuzzy at best, movies priced more than a ticket to a nearby theater. There was only one elevator on the far side of the building from where my Room was located - and that was also where the ice was. I could go on listing the faults of the room but will stop by saying it was a barely average room in a seemingly average hotel for an above average price in a convenient location.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
The hotel doesn't have a shuttle service from the airport and a taxi to the hotel costs $45 CAD. However if you time your trip right you can take the SkyTrain from the airport to the hotel for less than $5.

Olde beauty
Probably 20+ years ago the hotel was in top 10. Now it looks old. However rooms are spacious with balcony and jacuzzi and everything works. Our room had 2 separate sections (living and bedroom) with 2 TV sets and kitchenette with microwave, fridge and some kitchenware so if you may cook or warm-up your food in the room. There were much more amenities which we have no chance to explore. Hotel personnel was helpful. There are few restaurants around. It takes 10-15 min. walk to nearest SkyTrans station and 20-30 mins to Vancouver downtown. I would recommend the hotel for people with kids and for a long stay.

Parking charge
They do charge extra for parking, but since that was the only extra charge on my bill the manager comped it when we checked out

Short walk from hotel
Boston Pizza is in the adjacent parking lot and is open late, so it is very convenient, good food, and perfect for a late dinner or drink after a long day exploring Vancouver
