Great stay in Vancouver!

Would recommend Wed, Jul 29, 2015
Our stay was great the staff answered our questions and was helpful and courteous - very good customer service. We enjoyed the greater part of two days in Vancouver after our cruise to Alaska. We would stay at Days Inn again if opportunity arose. We loved being so close to the harbor. Thank you!

European style sensible, Canadian style pleasant

Would recommend Sat, Aug 16, 2014
I was in Vancouver BC to attend an engrossing technical conference for6 days *SIGGRAPH), and I did not need much more than a pleasant simple clean place nearby in a safe area, a place to sleep well at night and prepare well for the next day. This charming little 100 year -old 8-story hotel, recently updated, nicely maintained, staffed with exceptionally attentive, astute and courteous people, was absolutely perfect for me, traveling alone. My room was sensibly compact and reminded me of favorite old European hotel modernizations. Room sizes in older hotels were smaller for very good reasons (heating, cooling, airflow, water pumping and plumbing costs before availability of cheap electrical power) offered elegant pleasing interiors without gigantic sizes, kept walking distances short without elevators (this hotel has both: modern elevator AND a central fast staircase, which I preferred even for my 7th floor room). Even now, the hotel keeps rooms individually cooled/heated (giving you complete control: modern quiet but powerful thru-wall air handling unit) , and hallways unconditioned (thus a bit hot in summer due to good insulation, many incandescent lights and low airflow: CFL replacements might cool the halls and would cut electrical costs). Charming understated room decoration and design did not mistake size for comfort: I had everything I wanted and needed thoughtfully available within a few steps, and my needs have never included a tiled echoing bathroom large enough to host an impromptu racquetball tournament with 5 neighbors ( as in my most recent "modern luxury" hotel stay, with towel rods> 5 meters from the shower door!). While notably smaller than most 'modern' hotel rooms, it was cosy rather than cramped for me, and certainly enough for any solo traveler or couple that travels lightly. A good queen-sized bed, a desk; small refridgerator, ready-to-use tea / coffeemaker, modest closet with a safe, chest of drawers, comfortable chairs, large wall mounted flatscreen TV, free and quite speedy wireless internet service everywhere, small and but complete bathroom with shower, sink, mirror and toilet (no bathtub). Well,ok, the bathroom needed more counterspace, or perhaps a shelf near the wasbasin for my toothbrush, comb, sunscreen cream, dental floss, mouthwash; etc., but the early 1900's floorplan probably lacked private bathrooms--remodelers made very good use of the small space available. The hotel is only a few short blocks from the convention center, has a nice little restaurant in the basement good for a tasty and filling breakfast, is surrounded by skyscrapers and by some of the nicest parts of downtown Vancouver. I walked 3 blocks to the Granville train station that took me to and from the airport, and to almost anywhere else. The hotel is'just right' for me: elegant, charmingly tasteful and upscale, but without pointless luxury and showy wastefulness. Wonderful location, wonderful staff, and bargain priced, especially considering the superb service, location, design and finishing touches.

Very good location

We enjoyed our stay. The location was convenient. The room was clean. Just a minor house keeping point is that one day, the house keepers forgot to leave coffee cups in our room.

Great Location

Would recommend Wed, Jul 16, 2014
While the hotel is in a great location, the standard room has poor ancient lighting so feels constrained (and my 4th floor room's window opened to a concrete building just a few feet away). The rooms also comes with the traditional AC/heater unit by the window so it's noisy and unfortunately ours didn't work. The hotel staff were great overall and offered to credit us for the trouble with the AC but unfortunately couldn't without going through this travel site first. That's a hassle so I'd recommend booking directly with the hotel in the future. Overall, if you're looking for a great location and good value and won't be in your room except to sleep (i.e., you don't mind a basic/anything-but-high-end room), it's a good choice.

Dining

De Dutch is just a few blocks away and is a great breakfast spot on the water where you can watch float planes and boats come and go.

If you are looking for a hotel close to the Convention Center this hotel is less than a 5 minute walk to the Convention Centre. It's also a short walk from the Canada Line, the subway line that comes directly from the Airport.
