Century Plaza Hotel and Spa

I have been to other Century Plaza properties and have always been impressed. The hotel is 1 block away from a church. The rooms have a small kitchenette, there are no cooking utensils, you have to contact housekeeping for them. My wife prefers feather pillows, and there weren't any in the room so we called housekeeping and asked for some. They never brought them and never bothered to call. The walls had scratches in the paint in some areas, the carpets had stains, the toilet didn't flush properly, and the shower leaked enough water on the floor to wet the carpet outside the bathroom. The linen's were not big enough to adequately cover the mattress or pillows, internet access was $9 per day and parking was $15 per day. On the lighter side, the hotel is 3 or 4 blocks from the big mall and Robson street. If you like to walk, Stanley Park is 20 minutes walk away. If you like to go to the spa and comedy club, then maybe the hotel is OK, but I was very disappointed. We ended up checking out 2 days early.

Great location, nice lobby and restaurants (although somewhat stark feeling). The rooms were very outdated and a bit shabby. The air was difficult to control, leaving us freezing some of the time and sweating the rest. The staff were mediocre at best. It was a very good location for walking to Robson and other major sites.

This is a very decieving hotel. The lobby is newly decorated but the bedrooms are 1970's style although there is plenty of room in them it doesnt compare to the Sheraton across the road from this hotel.

Location is great. Reception staff is friendly. Check-in and check out were smooth and hassle free. Unfortunately the rooms were not quite clean. The bathtub was cloggled, the flush broken. The room smelt really bad.

Pipes in walls made loud noises reaccuringly, room service order never picked up, not helpful with directions or locations, uncomfortable bed. I will not be staying at this hotel again.

I expected an updated, European-type room and what I got was not exactly that. The lobby was upgraded and looked clean and bright. The rooms had old furniture and fixtures and reminded me of a much cheaper hotel. Also my room was a 1 bedroom (upgrade) and looked just like a reformatted apartment. The furniture was old and the bed was okay. My room had 1 air conditioner in the living room and nowhere else and so in the middle of the night the bedroom got VERY hot. We opened the windows and let in all the noise that was outside...including he yelling and cheering from the comedy club next door. The bathroom had chips in the bathtub and was small. I expected a European-type upgraded room and really just got a multi-room motel like feel. The $102 I paid was fair for the great location but don't expect a "nice" hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful, though, to their credit. Definitely had an apartment building feel on the floors though.

The quality of the hotel was clearly overstated. The bedroom contained 2 single beds instead of a queen or 2 double beds as advertised. And, the bedroom was not airconditioned. The living room was good size but the furnishings were certainly dated and less comfortable. More attention needs to be paid to important basics such as the quality of the sofa bed, draperies, and furnishings.

The bathroom sink faucets needed lubricating, and we had considerable difficulty adjusting water temperature in the shower - it was either too hot or too cold. It would have been nicer if the maid didn't make the bed using the dirty sheet we had put on the floor. The kitchenette was very useful to us. There were enough dishes - though the frying pan was missing! The people at the front desk were very polite and curteous.
