When I booked the hotel, I did so based on location. I didn't know Vancouver very well at all and just had to make sure it was close to the convention centre. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was near many good, local restaurants as well
as a movie theatre and some upper-end shopping. However, what made my stay really memorable was the extremely approachable, friendly staff. They all had personalities which were beyond the usual "yes ma'am" lackey that I usually see behind a front desk. Full points for that :)
Extremely good experience. Lobby and restaurant first class all the way. Rooms are very good size with sitting area, kitchenette and very comfortable bed. Bathroom including shower was excellent. The comedy club located in the hotel gave us
excellent entertainment for a very low price.
Hotel is in a great location for going to places in the "heart" of downtown Vancouver. The hotel was clean, reasonably comfortable and the decor was very modern or post modern in design.
However, the room and the hotel in general looked like it
was old construction. The doors and the paint had nicks and scratches throughout the hotel. The water faucet in the shower was old and looked like it was about to fall off the wall (screws loose). While showering, the water never stayed the same temperature and kept switching between hot and cold. Hallways smelled like an industrial chemical plant.
In addition, I payed something like $170.00 to stay at this hotel. Considering the price paid, this place was a terrible institution.
This place is in a great location and the lobby/bar is excellent. The rooms do not match what you get in the lobby though. A little older, dated, but overall clean. I was expecting more for the money but you are paying for location. The parking is
extra, and there is only free wifi in the lobby.
We had a double studio room with full kitchen and mountain views. The room was large and clean with comfortable beds. The hotel reception, bar, restuarant and coffee shop were very modern and clean and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is
near to the Skytrain Station and there is a bus stop just outside the hotel.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short drive from hotel
Visit Lynn Canyon as this is free and easy to reach on public transport. If visiting in the summer take a swimsuit as there is an excellent river pool.
Our room at Century-Plaza was large, with a small kitchen and sitting room. It was centrally located to many must see locations and was one of the stops for the Big Bus Hop on Hop off, which helped us see areas of Vancouver that were further away
without having to take the car out of the garage. Service was great and our room had a view that was WOW.
Visited Vancouver with my two grandchildren and stayed two nights at the Century Plaza. We had a wonderful stay in the hotel. The reservation staff, front desk and cleaning staff were so helpful and thorough. Room was clean and spacious.
Children enjoyed the pool. Location was excellent. Lots of assistance in locating tour and bus services. Would definitely return.
