Convenient Location

From the moment we checked in the hotel staff went above and beyond the call of duty. We had 14 foot long pole vault poles with us and they graciously found a safe place to store them until they were needed at the end of the week. The hotel was on a main street downtown and a great many restaurants were within walking distance. Robson Street is about 3 blocks from the hotel and is a big shopping and dining district. In the other direction 2 blocks away is Davies St. which boasts a corner community garden which was beautiful along with more restaurants and clubs. Our 19 and 22 year old sons enjoyed exploring the town after we went to bed at night and felt quite safe doing so.Towards Davies St. the characters are much more flamboyant. If you aren't used to a very liberal lifestyle you might prefer to head in the direction of Robson St. There were numerous closely located coffeehouses called Blenz that offered free Wi-fi to help you stay connected. It was perhaps a 10-15 minute drive to Stanley Park which we visited but not long enough to see it all. The housekeeping staff was friendly and did a great job. The hotel is located right beside a hospital. I say that to let prospective guests know that you will hear ambulances at all hours. I did not find this to be any big nuisance though. All around this was a terrific place to stay making it a very enjoyable trip.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you are in need of wi-fi service do not purchase here. Simply walk across the street and about one block in either direction and you will see a Blenz coffee house that offers this service free. If you are visiting from the US just remember that gas is sold by the liter. So if the gas prices look terrific, multiply by 4 to get an approximate value for a gallon.

Great hotel, great location.

We were greeted by friendly staff, who made us feel welcomed like old friends. Great place to stay before you take the cruise to Alaska. Wished we'd booked a couple of extra days instead of just the one.

Vancover Vacation 2009

Century Plaza was a dream come true on our 16 day adventure up the west coast. It was unsurpassed in every way. If the opportunity arises I WILL return to be treated like a "queen" again. Beautiful city, great accomidations, perfect location. Easy access to bus line, taxi service, walking distance to any site, many restaurants nearby, two very nice grocery "deli/markets" within two blocks. Perfect in every way... sorry I had to leave.

Perfect for my needs

I'm not needy, but I want a hotel with quiet rooms, a good view, a good location, and cleanliness. I got all of this at the Century Plaza in my studio (about halfway up 30-32 floors). They have a spa onsite (typical spa prices), a coffee shop, a restaurant, and lots of other good stuff. Plus, it's close to downtown and decent food (a 1/2 hour walk to stanley park and the aquarium, decent distance from the Canada line that takes you to the airport). Two things that could be improved upon: 1. When we arrived, we were not greeted by the person at the front door. He gave us a very weird look and did not smile or say anything. The counter people were always super nice (even when I called before, during, and after the visit), and other people greeted us.. just this ONE GUY never did... not when we first arrived and not any other time. 2. The coffee shop (Illy) needs a lot of improvement. They were out of soymilk the whole time and they also mislabeled the sorbet as gelato. It is a strange thing to expect gelato and get sorbet.

From the hotel, head north up Burrard (walking towards Georgia street) and turn left down Robson st. There are lots of places to eat down this way, and some shopping (LUSH!). Going right on Robson will take you to a large bookstore (Chapters).

Excellent hotel, great view and location

We had a wonderful stay at the Century Plaza. Because it was off-season we really did not pay much for the room and we totally enjoyed both the location and the view from the 26th floor. Located minutes walking from Robson, Granville and Davie streets. Will definitely consider staying there again.

Great Hotel. Great location

We stayed at this hotel as a stopover on our way to Blackrock Resort in Vancouver island. The staff were lovely, the room very large, modern ,quiet and clean. There was even a small kitchen. Checking in they gave us a $10 coupon for use in their restaurant. Great cafe onsite for breakfast. Would reccomend it to anyone.

This hotel was surprisingly in the heart of Vancouver, spotlessly clean and impressive. For a quick short term visit, take to HOP ON - HOP OFF bus tour of the city.
