Hotel address: 1015 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada V6Z 1Y5
Vancouver, BC
Vancouver International Airport.(YVR)
Right downtown on Burrard Street, walking distance to Robson Street's shopping and dining, Yaletown's trendy boutiques and lounges and English Bay's beaches, the Century Plaza is at the center of everything Vancouver has to offer.
A 300 seat, multileveled astonishingly atmospheric concept that mixes the grand elegance and extravagance of top drawer Las Vegas with the sleek, urban panache of LA or New York. Deep chocolate American walnut has been used to frame the elegant center bar area giving it the feel of an exclusive club. Fine details include polished stainless steel cobra head taps, smooth cool black granite counter tops and back-lit art niches. The open-viewing concept allows diners to follow the drama of a busy kitchen in high gear. The menu circumnavigates the Pacific pulling in the simple punchy food trends of Australia, with a strong nod to the inventive healthy "spa" style of eating for which BC has become famous. Hints of Asia and India drift subtly across fish and fowl, while heartland Canada is not overlooked as the kitchen is "farm-supplied" with a strong focus on organic and seasonal.
The Century Plaza Hotel & Spa offers six different meeting rooms which have recently been renovated to give a contemporary fresh look. The Burrard Ballroom, Salon A and Salon B are located on the mezzanine level of the hotel. The Plaza Suite is located on the 6th floor — allowing meetings to be ultra-private — and is perfect for boardroom set up. The Century Ballroom is located on the lower lobby level right beside Yuk Yuks Comedy Club. This unique combination allows your guests to dine in our lower ballroom, followed by one of our fantastic comedy shows.

Great value for money. The room was studio size with a kitchenette. Theres a IGA grocery store 2 blocks down the street. ... Everything is within walking distance. Bring your own pillow or ask for extras. There is variation among rooms; some have balconies; some have flat panel TVs, etc. Ask for a room NOT directly facing Burrard. Mine was facing the side of the hospital but I had a great view of the English Bay. It was dead quiet during the week but louder on the weekend but there are only 10 rooms per floor so theres not much traffic anyway. Free morning paper.

2 blocks (walk out of the hotel and stay Left on Burrard) is an IGA grocery store. There are several on Davie Street nearby too. Denman Street has good and cheap eats. Theres also a great Singaporean place called Kams on Davie, about 3 blocks from the hotel - go there for a great (and cheap) lunch!

I was in Vancouver for an American conference and enjoyed my stay. I found my room to be very clean and modern, with a ... fantastic view of the city. With that said, I travelled with several colleagues one of whom got a room that was not remodeled and the other who had their car broken into in the garage. I would stay here again, but my recommendations are to: specifically ask for a remodeled room for no extra charge(floor 26) and do not park your car in the garage.

Perfect for my needs
yup yup Nov 9, 2009
I'm not needy, but I want a hotel with quiet rooms, a good view, a good location, and cleanliness. I got all of this at the ... Century Plaza in my studio (about halfway up 30-32 floors). They have a spa onsite (typical spa prices), a coffee shop, a restaurant, and lots of other good stuff. Plus, it's close to downtown and decent food (a 1/2 hour walk to stanley park and the aquarium, decent distance from the Canada line that takes you to the airport). Two things that could be improved upon: 1. When we arrived, we were not greeted by the person at the front door. He gave us a very weird look and did not smile or say anything. The counter people were always super nice (even when I called before, during, and after the visit), and other people greeted us.. just this ONE GUY never did... not when we first arrived and not any other time. 2. The coffee shop (Illy) needs a lot of improvement. They were out of soymilk the whole time and they also mislabeled the sorbet as gelato. It is a strange thing to expect gelato and get sorbet.

From the hotel, head north up Burrard (walking towards Georgia street) and turn left down Robson st. There are lots of places to eat down this way, and some shopping (LUSH!). Going right on Robson will take you to a large bookstore (Chapters).

A Bargain, but a Hard Bed
K Aug 30, 2009
If you need an inexpensive place to crash, this would be a good choice. However you'd better be quite tired, because it's ... possibly the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. Some of the rooms have undergone renovations while others have not. Otherwise, the rooms and amenities are sufficient. I found the staff to be somewhat uniformed about locations of things. One employee lived so far away she didn't know where anything was in the city. The "concierge" amounted to a stack of maps left on top of the counter. However, the location isn't bad. And the rooms come equipped with small kitchens. Since there is a very nice market a block away, you could easily eat inexpensively if you wanted. I chose this hotel because there was a spa in it. This was my third visit to this chain of spas and although I thought my service was just ok, my traveling companions thought theirs were very good. I probably would not stay here again unless it was one of the last available places and I would request a renovated room.

First impression of the hotel was great. The lobby and restaurant look like they have been recently renovated and the ... location is great. When I checked in I was upgraded to a suite from the standard room I had booked online. The suite was okay at best. The room was long overdue for a update! Dirty furniture, stained carpets, old curtains and everything just looked very used. The staff was very friendly and helpful. On my check out day I found that my car had been broken into while parked in their parkade. The staff helped vacuumed out the broken glass and gave me 1 free night of parking. Perhaps they should look into hiring a security guard to patrol their parkade as the staff mentioned to me that this happens pretty often.

Convenient Location
Vaulters wife Aug 22, 2009
From the moment we checked in the hotel staff went above and beyond the call of duty. We had 14 foot long pole vault poles ... with us and they graciously found a safe place to store them until they were needed at the end of the week. The hotel was on a main street downtown and a great many restaurants were within walking distance. Robson Street is about 3 blocks from the hotel and is a big shopping and dining district. In the other direction 2 blocks away is Davies St. which boasts a corner community garden which was beautiful along with more restaurants and clubs. Our 19 and 22 year old sons enjoyed exploring the town after we went to bed at night and felt quite safe doing so.Towards Davies St. the characters are much more flamboyant. If you aren't used to a very liberal lifestyle you might prefer to head in the direction of Robson St. There were numerous closely located coffeehouses called Blenz that offered free Wi-fi to help you stay connected. It was perhaps a 10-15 minute drive to Stanley Park which we visited but not long enough to see it all. The housekeeping staff was friendly and did a great job. The hotel is located right beside a hospital. I say that to let prospective guests know that you will hear ambulances at all hours. I did not find this to be any big nuisance though. All around this was a terrific place to stay making it a very enjoyable trip.
Traveler type: Family
If you are in need of wi-fi service do not purchase here. Simply walk across the street and about one block in either direction and you will see a Blenz coffee house that offers this service free. If you are visiting from the US just remember that gas is sold by the liter. So if the gas prices look terrific, multiply by 4 to get an approximate value for a gallon.
