Great City, but in a not so good area

The hotel was clean, but small rooms. We stayed in 5th floor with a queen bed. The toilet/shower was in the "closet". Extremely short walk to Vancouver's Chinatown (one block down), and 5 minutes from there into Downtown and Gas Town. The street Hastings (east of the hotel) is not so nice. Many homeless people with drug addictions. But they are harmless and easy to avoid if you go thru Chinatown instead of Hastings. Overall a great stay and a great hotel if the main purpose of your trip is to experience the city and not just stay at the hotel. It is a great place to sleep. Free fast internet was also included. Also cheap parking, only $4 a night. (remember to lock your car).

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Experienced the city in a short walk and in a cheap way.So if you are on a budget or don't want to spend all of your money on a hotel this is a great place. Don't let the area scare you too much.

OK experience but watch the neighborhood

I chose this hotel because of the low rate. The room was small and had a musty smell, but other than that it was clean. Bathroom has a shower, no tub, with a folding closet type door. The internet worked reasonably well. The pub downstairs is old but provides very good burgers - great for my palate. The biggest problem is the poor neighborhood; [*]. No fault of the hotel itself, which looks clean, but the general impression from the area around makes one feel bad. If you don't mind walking through the homeless folks etc., I'd say the hotel is OK for the price. The reception folks (a cute girl and a nice guy alternate the shift) are really friendly and very very helpful, they went out of their way to make me comfortable etc. I wish the rooms could be better smelling; perhaps they can use some air freshener / perfume? The smell is probably due to dampness and cigarette smoke from other users. In terms of price at the given location, you probably can't beat the hotel. But again, watch out for the neighborhood. Also, make sure you don't keep anything valuable in your car, just as a precaution.

A Skid Row Classic

Very uneventful ( which was a good thing). Staff was professional. Mass transportation very good and location near downtown was optimal. Clean rooms and running hot wat with awesome pressure. Perfect for the individual on a tight budget and in need of downtown location. Just say a confindent no to the pandhandlers and walk with a purpose. They will leave you alone. Don't give them anything or you will have an unwelcomed friend for life.

Good hotel, excellent price, uglylocatio

I was looking for an affordable hotel. The Patricia had very good prices and I didn't wanted to stay in a hostel this time. The hotel is clean and quiet, it includes breakfast and is just 10 min by bus from downtown. The staff is kind and friendly, also the hotel has a bar and they make their own beer. But the neighborhood is ugly, there are lot of homeless in East Hasting Ave., especially 2 blocks from Main, as many as 10 homeless per block. During day it is OK, but at night looks dangerous. The police station is near by and patrols pass often, then the area is safe. I didn't had any trouble.

Inexpensive, not-that-great a location

The hotel is located in the "East Hastings" neighborhood of downtown Vancouver. It is very close to all many of Vancouver's attractions, and the hotel is very cheap (more so because I shared it with a friend) compared to most other hotels in the city. But the neighborhood is supposedly one of the worst neighborhoods in the city, home to the homeless, drug addicts, and prostitutes. That said, there is no violent crime, and the neighborhood is pretty safe as such. If you are willing to condone the above, you can't ask for a better price in town.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

no matter what people say, the neighborhood around Budget Inn Patricia is pretty safe. I would happily go back to stay at the same place for a second time in Vancouver.

Great price, not so great neighborhood

Its cheap, has free wi-fi, the rooms are clean and its quiet. Not for the faint of heart if you arrive there late at night. Vancouver's Skid Row is on this road, so its not a pretty sight at any time of the day.

Rundown hotel in bad neighborhood

Spend a few extra 20's and get a nicer hotel. This hotel was in a crackhead neighborhood. Hastings is full of hookers, homeless people, and street dealers. It was definitely not fun taking a stroll their every night. The lobby and halls smelled like smoke and the elevator was nearly broken. Oh and the free parking lot belongs to a hub next door that is really loud at night. We had a car broken into the first night. They don't compensate for any losses so take my advice and DON'T STAY HERE!!
