Surprisingly nice and great location

Would recommend Thu, Dec 19, 2013
From the street this hotel doesn't look like much, and the lobby, though neat, has seen better days. However, the hallways to the rooms were clean and pleasant. The room we had, though small, was clean, cute and comfortable. The feather duvet was cosy and the mattress was more comfortable than most hotels I have stayed at. The view was an ally, but the nice curtains were thick. The room was nicely warm (for winter). The hotel was in a great area with shopping and many food choices within easy walking range. I felt safe in the area even at night. I would go back there again - wonderful value for price!

Dining

Cute fondue place a block away and many other delicious choices close by. A new Greek restaurant is opening across the street.

Not bad for a quick night to just sleep at

Would recommend Wed, Nov 13, 2013
Small place in a big city. Although the beds are small, (twin size) you get a good price for your bucks. 1st being in Canada and love that everything is walking distantance from room so if you're bored you can shop, eat, drink sight see by yourself in the meantime. Met up with my friends after (they stayed in a fancy hotel) and loved that I did not have go far walking. Went Dec 31st 2011/12. Staff is good.

Dining

Chinese restaurants and souvenirs shops all over.

Great family-friendly hotel

Would recommend Mon, Aug 26, 2013
What a great hotel. Location is amazing; walking distance to the great shops and cafes around Robson Street, Stanley Park and the Aquarium, the beaches & waterfront area. Our family of 5 stayed for 1 night in a (recently decorated) very quiet, comfortable, clean room, went away for a night, then came back to another (recently decorated) clean, comfortable room. staff were friendly and for a room that sleeps five in such a great location, it was a bargain! Also (reasonable) walking distance to the Skytrain and Canada Line which takes you straight to the airport. Air conditioning units were a bit too noisy use at night but we opened the windows and there was very little noise coming from the street below (given the location of the hotel).

Dining

Fantastic array of cafes, restaurants, food stalls within a few minutes walk of the hotel, some 24 hours which is great when you're up at 4 in the morning with jet-lagged kids! Every cuisine you can imagine is nearby.

Pre planning trip

Would recommend Thu, Feb 28, 2013
For the price of the stay the hotel was adequate. The first room I received was right above the night club and had to have another room assigned. No wi-fi was available only in the lobby due to the location of the room being at the back of the hotel. It is located in a good section of town, public trans is readily available. For a low cost stay it was not bad at all very friendly staff and accomodating.

That's Good Stuff for Good Price

Would recommend Sun, Feb 24, 2013
Me and my boyfriend stay at Barclay Hotel every time we visit Vancouver since we have discovered it. It's located on Robson Street which is close to all the shopping or skytrain if you don't have a car like us. Also , the price is amazing - you won't find cheaper in downtown and with the same level of comfort. Rooms are small, but clean, with big TV on the wall right in front of the bed. I absolutely love this hotel, it's super cozy and comfy. Close to nightclubs and bars, you won't get bored.

Nightlife hint

Great beer is sold right at the hotel's bar which is located downstairs.

Nice Hotel

Would recommend Fri, Feb 1, 2013
Very nice hotel and excellent location. They are remodeling the whole building and the room was very clean and nice. The bed could be better, but for a couple of day is ok! Hope you enjoy it as we did... The staff was excellent! Careful with the online travel agency you chosse because they charge you $2 fee...

Dining

Breakfast at the hotel was very nice for $6, I highly recommend you...

Don't judge a book by its cover

Would recommend Tue, Oct 9, 2012
When I pulled up to the Barclay after hours of travel I was pretty scared. The exterior needs some major TLC and the lobby isn't much better. I walked in to the reservation desk and was greeted by a very friendly staff, the hotel restaurant apparently had been booked for a party and the techno music pumping out of there made it difficult to hear the woman checking me in. My fear that I had made a terrible mistake kept growing. After walking up two floors to my room I was pleasantly surprised that I could no longer hear the music. I reached my room only to find out they are renovating the hotel. My room was completely brand new and very clean. I have never been so thankful, brand new bathroom and fixtures, nice very comfortable new bed. The room was small but perfect for a solo traveler. For the price and the location you really can't go wrong! I would definitely stay at the Barclay again.

Barclay Hotel was pretty good

Would recommend Wed, Jun 27, 2012
Wasn't expecting much at all, but I thought it was pretty good. Great location, nice clean room, small bathroom though. I'd recommend.

Attractions

You have to go to Stanley Park. And go to Capilano too. There are numerous bike rental places in the area.

Great value, great location

Would recommend Tue, May 1, 2012
The hotel is going through remodeling and we had a chance to experience the rooms before and after remodeling. Our one night stay in the “old” room contrasted by staying the remaining days in the “new” room. Especially the bathrooms were significantly improved. The hotel offer great, great location in downtown Vancouver. We liked the location so much that we booked some extra days on our way back from Whistler as well. I would definitely recommend the hotel.
