Great Location, Overall Good Hotel
Our stay was just after Christmas and was a very pleasant stay overall. While the staff were nice and mostly professional, it was not to the same quality as other Fairmont hotels. Several examples that were notable were in the restaurants when the server would clear plates of those of us who had finished even though one was still eating. This left the one person still eating feeling singled out and rushed. Plates should only be cleared once all dinner guests have finished eating. Other than that, the dining experience was good. The cuisine was varied and quite tasty, with each meal a great melody of flavors. It is pricey though, even by NYC standards. The rooms were clean and comfortable in size and the view overlooking the lake and the Victoria Glacier was beautiful. Given the chance, I would recommend the lake and mountain view to everyone. It's a constant reminder of how wonderful Lake Louise is. The Concierge was very helpful in organizing activities for us including dog sledding along the Great Divide. That was a wonderful experieince! There is no shortage of activites here. From snowboarding or skiing on over 600 runs just minutes from the hotel to hiking along or across the lake, ice climbing on the nearby ice falls, sleigh rides, ice skating and more. We look forward to coming again.

Dog sledding is available in winter just minutes from the hotel and is well worth the experience. Call the concierge ahead of time to make reservations.

A bit rich
Beautifully maintained interiors and gardens. After paying a premium for our mountain view suite, I thought it over the top to be asked to pay for overnight parking (not mentioned prior to check in). Robes had to be requested (wanted to use them for pre and post swim) which then took 2 1/2 hrs to arrive (we'd already swum, showered and were heading off to dine!). In summary, 'box ticked'.

Definitely rent a canoe at Lake Louise at the early morning rate (between 08:30 and 10:00) before the crowds arrive. Beautiful.

Unbelievable view and great service
The hotel was wonderful. Amazing staff, wonderful food and activities. The walk around Lake Louise was a picture perfect experience. Although we did not bring our dog, the hotel is extremely pet friendly. Every staff member greeted us with warm hellos and were eager to answer questions and give advice about the area. We hope to go back again and again. Canoeing around the lake was so relaxing.

The best out of 41 countries visited!
Sightseeing, relaxing, hiking, and just sitting by the window enjoying the BEST view of Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier. We literally could not get enough of the eye candy! And the meals were to die for!! Staff called us by name and we felt we were part of a much larger, non dysfunctional family!!! We are already planning our return trip for next year. Peninsula Club, move over!!!

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
We went to experience the National Park, hiking, history, animals, flowers & trees, glaciers, geology, etc. Making this hotel the start of the visit was perfect. The view of the glacier and lake and mountains in the early morning and late evening started the experience, followed by the hikes to Lake Agnes and Plain mts, etc. It is well worth the cost, and a perfect takeoff for the Icehighway which is key to the Park.

The purpose of staying in this hotel is the ideal access to a great National Park. To walk out of the lovely location and directly into the trails is ideal. And to get into the car and start the terrific Icehighway to Jasper, encountering all the glaciers and lake-viewing spots is unique among all the National Parks in the USA and Canada. There are equivalent hotels around the world, but it is rare to be so immediately available to the best of Banff National Park. The ammenities of the hotel do not diminish the real reason to be there, which is the Park.
